Insurance? Just your deductible. Which you would get back. If not then up in the 1000+ range out of pocket. New tire $200. Side fender $200. Side body piece $300. Door $500. These are low ball estimates.

+ paint, clean, removal, etc....

We had someone just scratch and dent the side of our car (not even close to that bad) and it was a total of $1800.... your damage is much much worse. Our door panel had to be replaced, your entire door will probably need to be replaced.

Smack your buddy in the ear and tell him to pay his deductible.

if it bent up the body (tub) around that door, that in itself might cost more than 1,000. Those curves can be really tedious to repair... Then, try to get it to look right with a new door and have a perfect gap all the way around it.

don't forget "diminished value" on your claim as this will show up on "carfax", will lower trade in and sell price.

A freakin LOT if you do it out of pocket. Best bet is for him to file it on ins. If he doesnt have ins then I hope you have uninsured motorist on your policy. If not, he wouldnt be my friend anymore and it would cost him and a$$ whoopin as well as you a lot of money.

That sucks man. If that were to have happened with any of my friends, I wouldn't even have to worry about it. They would have called the tow truck themselves and have their insurance take care of it.

I don't want to talk down about someone I don't even know, but if they really are a true friend, they won't even hesitate to take care of it for you and if they have any issues with doing that then maybe they aren't a friend worth having.

This will be a big test of your friends character.
