How To Sell A Tomb Raider Edition??

Does anyone have an idea how to get the most money out of my Tomb Raider Limited Edition that I am trying to sell? I am not seeming to have any luck here.

Thanks!
Brenda

Try eBay, auto trader, etc.

It's really not going to bring much more than any other Wrangler in similar condition... IMO.

A limited run of 1,001 (perhaps as many as 1,050) Wrangler Rubicon "Tomb Raider" models were produced in 2003 to promote the Tomb Raider sequel, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life. Along with the standard Rubicon fare, it also included exterior features such as 16 inch Alcoa forged aluminum wheels, Tomb Raider badging, and Mopar accessories including a light bar, riveted fender flares, tubular grille guard, diamond-plated bumper guard, etc. Interior features included Dark Slate fabric seats with red accent stitching down the center, silver surround instrument panel bezel, red seat belts, and a Tomb Raider badge with serial number. To match the vehicle in the film, it was offered in Bright Silver. Due to its classic styling, combined with numerous unique accessories, the 2003 "Tomb Raider" Limited Edition Wrangler Rubicon has become one of the most highly collectible jeeps of all-time.

Some of those items might be nice, but I'd be changing quite a few of those out. It sounds like it might be nice for a collector that also happens to like Jeeps, but for Jeepers, it might not be all that special.

One thing I have noticed about special edition vehicles is that they are very rarely worth any more than the standard version unless they are very limited production and are an edition dedicated to an icon of pop culture. 1,000 built and Tomb Raider don't fit either of those. Most of the time they also have to have very low mileage and still appear brand new, which would be extremely unlikely for a regularly driven 03.

Sell it as a Rubi with special Tomb Raider Trim. Otherwise you get what you get.

Best way: be patient and make sure it is perfect mechanically.

This edition isn't worth more than a standard version, and is arguably going to be worth LESS to many folks, since the majority of the "features" it adds are of no practical value whatsoever; the rims are one possible exception.

The only way the tomb raider edition might be worth more is if you found and installed all of the add-on's and accessories to match the movie jeep. Then you would probably have people fighting over it.

Really I wouldn't pay any more for that tomb raider edition jeep than a comparable regular wrangler. If you look at jeeps for sale, ones with mods like diamond plate this and that or fancy steel tube bumpers don't command any real price premium over clean bone stock examples.

Unless it's in pristine (like new) condition with super low miles, the Tomb Raider limited edition has about the same value as any 03 Rubicon in comparable condition. I bought an 05 Rubicon Unlimited Sahara limited edition last year but paid the same as I would have for an 05-06 LJ Rubicon w 7K miles - my bonus was a professionally installed 6" lift and a new set of wheels/tires (along with the factory wheels), seat covers and floor liners at no additional cost.

Jeep has a long history of producing mostly cosmetic "limited editions" that have no added value and these movie editons (Tomb Raider & Sahara) are no different. Now, IF you had photos of Angelina Jolie with YOUR Jeep and her autograph on it, then it might command a premium to the right collector...but you'd still have to find that person!

Best of luck!

AGREED! ;D

I'm not an expert on many things, but I was told a looong time ago by my dad that "The worth of any certain item is based soley on someone who values it" Or in Lehman's terms, your Jeep is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. By-the-way, that valuation system is based on fine art values (which is how I am sure you look at your Rubicon) (Not to sound rude!)

It could be worth more to a collector if it has extremely low miles and is in pristine condition.

Otherwise, to the Jeeper crowd, it's full of extra cosmetic junk that would be removed or replaced. A friend in my club bought a wrecked one and fixed it up..... Without Angelina Jolie in it. So, everything came off except the sticker.

Just another special edition sales gimmick. That being said, I would love to have a Willy's Edition TJ, but have you ever seen a replacement top in the green they came with? One of the drawbacks in buying a limited production special edition, IMO.
