I broke my Jeep while trying to prevent it from breaking....

..... Yeah, I was installing an evaporative canister relocation kit on my JK, just so I wouldn't break that stupid thing while 'wheeling. I broke it . . . . I broke it while trying to protect it!!!

To relocate the canister, one has to disconnect some wires and a hose. While trying to twist the hose off of the canister (which is plastic), I torqued a little too much and snapped the male end of the canister that was inserted in the hose. Of course, the part is not available from my local auto parts store; gotta get it from the dealer. Mrs. Redneck went to the dealer this morning to order the part; not sure what it's going to cost me yet.

Update: the little plastic part of the canister will cost me a grand total of $8.95!!! I never thought a dealer part would be so cheap. It'll be here tomorrow.

I was going to say it's a cheap part that will ruin your day if it breaks and starts throwing codes.

Yeah, the part I broke is an emissions component that has electrical connections. I figured if I started the Jeep up with the broken part, it would throw all sorts of codes. I opted not to start it all. Since its my DD, I'm driving the "beater" pickup until I get my Jeep part (today, hopefully).
