I just don't get it.

JKU's with 4 full steel doors. Even with the top down they still look buttoned up. I know there are alot of JKU's on the road lately. They are popular and look pretty cool but, they don't appear to me to be any more open than a car with a large sunroof. I guess I'd invest in Safari doors if I could afford one and I realize that "to each his own". I just find nothing appealing about full steel doors, especially 4 of them. What do ya'll think?

I just picked up a 2012 JKU. The doors come off fully. Its a pain because the are full doors and alot to disconect. I have seen a fully open JKU and it looks great.

I was of the same opinion before I bought my JKUR, it dosn't look like the top is off, but it does *feel* like it while driving, and that's the important factor. I can't always take the doors off, but it is nice when I do, but it feels great with the top off regardless of doors off or on. I did try and buy the half doors through my dealer but their cost vs. my gain was too much and will, eventually, buy after markets but untill then, it's all good.

Remember; we drive Jeeps first for how they feel and second for how they look. Well...sometimes.

Pulled up beside a JK today with full doors and the top off, Middle aged couple with teens in the back seat. I smiled and gave a nod, the couple turned their noses at me. Overheard the teen boy in the backseat ask his dad why his jeep wasn't as awesome as "that one"
:-D 8 up on 37's, no doors, no top, battlescars all to heck.
Made me so very happy

It's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog.

To each their own.

I get where the OP is coming from, I don't like full doors for a variety of reasons. Weight, shape, size, can't remove the top like with a half door, blah blah blah. But I don't think you can judge a jeep by only seeing it once.

I took a trip to Iowa this weekend 785 miles roundtrip beautiful weather the whole time. I left my doors at home the only reason I took my top was because it was connected(left all windows at home too). I must have seen two hundred jeeps every where I looked I saw jeeps jk's, tj's , yj's even saw a cj going down the highway. Out of all the jeeps about 1% either had their tops down, partially down or had their freedom panels removed. I could'nt believe it being from SE Michigan I try to take advantage of the weather as much as I can before you know it there will be snow on the ground. Come on people quit being pussies it's a jeep.

There ya go! I like this response! Oh, and VERY nice Jeep by the way..

As for the OP, I personally love the look of the 4 door, whether the doors are on or off. They look tough! Just my opinion though.

I'm currently running with my Freedom panels installed, hard top removed, back doors off, and front doors installed. There's method to the madness: my Jeep is a daily driver, and it's still a bit chilly in the morning commute on the freeway. The Freedom panels and front doors protect just enough to keep me comfortable in the morning. On weekends, the doors come off.

In the pics below (taken this weekend in the Sierra Nevadas), the doors and Freedom panels were most welcome, TRUST ME!!!

That's a unique look. I like it. May try that this fall when it starts cooling down.

I sent you a PM... but meh, I can ask here anyway. That's kind of what I was thinking of doing with a JKU. Out of curiosity, have you ever put half doors in the rear with the full door in the front?

Hey guys I'm not dissin on JK's. I think they're cool. I just wanted to start a thread about a subject that I thought people might have an opinion on. Just for the record though, I love all Jeeps! ALL OF THEM!!!! *cough* (except ghetto rides).

I am considering buying some half-doors with matching factory paint color and putting those in the rear, then keeping the front doors on. It would look something like the JK8 without all the expense. Would look best with back seats folded down, and even better with one of those cab curtain or windjammer thingys if you could get one to fit just behind the front seats.

Something like this? (Bestop)

I have half doors and thinking about it. I have the full bikini top and I'd like to get it as long as I have the option of putting it behind the front seats or behind the back seats. I'm not sure if it will fit both places. It is too late to call them tonight so I sent an e-mail, not sure when they will reply.

Yeah, THAT'S what I want. I haven't seen that setup before. With rear half doors in factory paint, I'd LOVE IT even more!!! Thanks. Where can I get that setup? Directly from Bestop? I haven't seen it on the Q, or any of the other 4x4 websites I frequent (I could have missed it).
