I need a battery..OPTIMA????

So Im gonna need a new battery by...maybe the end of the week. Regular batties are running about 75-100 bucks at local parts store.

Now on the other hand one of my future uprades I planned was a yellow top optima. I just wasnt planning on unexpectadly spending $100 on a battry let alone 200 for the optima. I have the cash I just dont know if its worth it.
Should I get the optima and cross it off the "to do list" or save the extra money and get other things i need like stainless brake lines, "solid" diff cover, steering box skid, steering stabilizer....the list goes on.

I was thinking just getting a regular battery and saving the cash and then later on down the line getting the optima, but then it almost seems like wasting money by replacing a perfectly good battery.

With a winch a Optima is worth the money.

When I had a normal battery it went down to 10-10.5 V when I was winching. With the Optima it´s always over 12V.

DO NOT MOUNT A WINCH ON THE SIDE TERMINALS of an Optima. You WILL regret it.

That said, I have a Napa Exide battery and it works GREAT on my TJ with my Warn winch. Haven't had a lick of problems with it. It was cheaper than the Optima but had the same CCA's and other specs. If you DO go with an Optima and have a winch, go with a deep cycle battery (grey body). They'll handle it better.

I did just put an Optima red in my Avalanche, but it is a stock rig. I just prefer sealed batteries for that application.

Regardless of Napa or Optima, go with a gel/sealed battery. In the event of a flop or rollover, you won't have to deal with battery acid. Don't ask how I know.

rich, i am an "Interstate Battery" dealer. if you are unfamiliar w/ their company, they have all different types of batteries. let me know what battery you want and i'll get it to you at my cost. i can bring it to RC if you want.

The acid ate my amp cables, tore up the battery tray, and generally made a mess of my wires and ends. No pics of all that. Just shortened the power cables a bit (amp) and reattached. Cleaned up the other cables pretty well and I didn't notice the battery tray until I finally swapped the battery for the Exide.
