I wanna get my Jeep dirty...

So I've had my jeep for a while. But I haven't done much with it. I wasn't really excited about the offroad prospects when I bought it. I just liked the look and always wanted one.

Anyway, I've never used the 4wd... I drive it to work and around town. I'm really comfortable with the stickshift now (I had never really driven one much before I got the jeep and was a little apprehensive about doing anything with it earlier... but now I'm really comfortable in it and love it more than driving an automatic).

But I don't know where to take it or anything. It's just a standard 2010 JK sport. No mods really. New half doors, mirrors, and a safari top and that's about it (note I am NOT a car savy person or work on cars or anything but even just doing all that myself was fun and made me a bit more ambitious as far as spicing it up. Just right now I don't have a lot of reason to do much since I haven't used it really to begin with to justitfy much more than I have. Anyway, I live in South Central California and don't really know anyone who does any of that kind of off road stuff so I thought I'd come here and see if anyone has some suggestions for me where I could take it and learn to have some fun it (I really do love just driving it around but now I'm getting antsy and just wanna get it dirty. Before I was like... I don't wanna ruin it or mess it up or get it dirty. Now I really want to take the carpet out, wear the tires out and have an excuse to buy new wheels and stuff).

Thanks if you can help (and I'm not picky of location really. I'll make a weekend trip out of it, it'd be fun).

Howdy Scarecrow. Welcome to the forum. For just to get a touch of off-road experience, I would recommend getting a couple of friends with trucks/suvs to go with you and go explore some dirt roads. In central CA, there are a lot of old mining roads that would be fun to explore and also offer a history lesson. If you want to try something more agressive, go to a local 4x4 shop and ask them what they recommend or if they know of any local off-road clubs. We had a couple of WF members just make the trek from central CA down my way for a Meet and Greet in Big Bear. I am thinking of setting another up in March in either Anza Borrego or Hungry Valley/Gorman. Meet and Greets are a great way to find others into the same thing and a group is a much better and safer way to off-road.

Post up some pics of your Jeep and your wish list of mods.

Jeff

^^^^ What he said... Find a 4x4 club in your area to hook up with, they'll show you the ropes.. Look in to JeepSkool, or Jeep Jamboree near by, they'll teach you a ton... Stop a dirty Jeeper you see on the road and ask him about wheeling, or park next to a dirty one somewhere.... You'll find places to go, and never go alone....
