Kelvinkally I realy like your bumper it is one of the best I have seen home made or otherwise. I would like to build one for simaler for my yj. I know you dont want to have any one to have a identical bumper. Thats why Im not buying one. but if you could give a few pointers on how you came up with the desing and what size plate you used it would be helpful.
Hey, you're right, the reason we all build our own stuff is to make them "our own", If you want one that looks just like someone elses, you might as well just buy a production bumper, that being said, I just looked at differant bumpers that I liked certain things about and took those points and combinded them to come up with what you see. I don't use drawings or anything like that, I just start out with an idea in my head and see where it takes me. I used 1/4 in plate for the bumper, 1/2 in plate for the mounting brackets with the 1 in plate to build the pull eyes which are welded to the mounting bracket that bolts up to the frames factory bumper mounting holes. As for getting the two sides to match, I built one side by tacking it together and getting it to look like I wanted. Then I cut the tacks and used those pieces as patterns for the other side so they would be a perfect match, then welded it all together and ground it smooth. I hope this helps you out and good luck.
