I had to check where you were from. I work in a call center in TN. I like the work, but some customers make me want to scream! Esp when they cuss me and tell me I am not doing my job.

Reminds me when I used to work for a large hotel call center taking reservations. We had around 200 operators working one night, and I got a call from "Joe" who was in the middle of a really bad storm in Kansas.
He literally had me laughing my butt off, he was the redneck joker type. He was in such a bad scenario, but would not stop cracking jokes. Finally, I gave him directions to a nearby hotel.

About 5 minutes later I answer a call and it is him again. Let me say, this NEVER happens. I have never got the same person, I could not believe it.

"Thank you for calling blah... this is Ryan"
"RYAN! It's Joe again!"
"Sorry sir, who?"
"Joe! The *bad word* who is stuck in the god da** thunderstorm!!!"

I busted out laughing, I could not contain myself. He got lost and I gave him directions again, and this time waited until he pulled up to the hotel. Meanwhile he just cracked jokes and how lucky I was to be talking to such an "educated man" as himself. I will never forget that call, absolutely hilarious.

Sometimes I hated working at call centers, but there were those few customers that would just make it better (I had a 45 minute call with a man talking about his Camaro). So next time you call in to a call center, lighten up and strike some jokes... because you WILL make their day better

I have so many stories from the last 8 years, it's scary. I started out here as frontline support, but the *really* good stories come after I got into management. That's when you get the angry transferred calls that are the stuff of legend.

I had a guy a few years ago who told me my kids weren't going to go to college because he was going to sue me "so hard". He was one of these loudmouth New Yorker types (no offense meant for anyone in NY) who sounded like he was used to people rolling over and doing whatever he said once he threw out a few high octane threats. When I explained, yet again, that our software would not do this one thing that he wanted it to, and that litigation against a guy in support was a pretty futile gesture, he just hung up on me. I still remember that bastard though.

Former Zoomie R&D/Systems Engineer guy then civilian Systems Analyst for IBM at Watson Lab in New York. Now everywhere for anyone with a purchase order.

Also photographer as I am apparently bored easily.

Some folks see the glass half full, some see it half empty. As a systems analyst it is my job to show you that it is the wrong sized glass, with the wrong fluid and, for an extra codicil to the contract I will show you how to drink it and act like you enjoy it.

Retired.

However . . . prior to that (and for almost 20 years) a CAD operator (draftsman). I was quick on the draw. For 15 1/2 years it was in the precast concrete manufacturing area, and I drew EVERYTHING. The concrete products, the molds that made the products, the lift equipment that took the products out of the mold and put it on the trucks, THE TRUCKS, the plot plans for where the concrete was going . . . . And for the last 4 years of that job most of the work was done in 3D, because it's easier to draw something once then project the views than it is to draw it 3 times in three different ways.

Prior to that I was a bus driver/transportation coordinator for an ARC in Western NY.

I could go on back, but it would take time. Suffice it to say that I started my employment with the USAF in 1963. Yea. I'm old.

The only thing I can say in my defense is that whatever I worked at I always did MORE than was expected of me. Some of the jobs were downright boring. Some of them were extremely stressful. But the challenge of trying to be an overachiever made all of them worthwhile to me. Maybe that's the key to enjoying what you do.

ive got an all around training and have done most of that stuff. the company i work for wont let you weld unless youve done their training. they also have a coatings training which is just like underwater painting to prevent rust on metal. it mostly depends on who your employer is and who youre working for. the company i work with does most of its jobs in nuclear power plants so its pretty strict.

I am an Army Nurse (in case you couldn't tell). My specialty is critical care. I've been to Iraq twice. I've been in well over 20 years, and hope to retire soon. Maybe then I can do more Jeeping than I'm doing now.

I am a behavioral health specialist for Loma Linda Medical University Behavioral Medicine Center. I work on both the adult in patient unit and the medically fragile out patient department. I am also a full time student with a near complete degree in biology and psychology. Eventually when I grow up I'll be a nurse practitioner who specializes in psychology.

I'm also a potter. Goblets are my speciality. I've also just designed a cup with brass knuckles for a handle. Pretty awesome stuff. Hopping to cash in on the design. Maybe sell to Wall-mart. Lmao.
