During my entire working life (18 years), I've worked for four companies . . . they have all been acquired by the company that I'm with now.

IT Support for Vermont's Largest Construction Company, DEW Construction Corp. Me and another guy. My Job title is MIS Coordinator, not a bad gig for a kid who is 22 and likes to play on the computer...I have a background in motorcycle mechanics, out of high school i went to MMI in Orlando and became Suzuki F.A.S.T. Certified with a select tech honor. I also majored in Kawasaki's K-Tech Program. I worked at a local dealership for 2 years after i returned home, turns out the money isn't in working for some one else, its doing side work in your garage (tax free)! The bucks are in computers for sure, and its the future. I'm glad i made a career change, the mechanical background is what fueled my love for "The Jeep"....I enjoy taking on anything it throws at me

p.s. - just for reading this you will get the latest and greatest VIRUS... the SlinginMud150 Conflica Virus. Enjoy

haha, how odd. My brother just emailed me to tell me that a friend of his from school works for New York Life, and he gave them my phone number...

I was like "WTF is new york life?"

actually with my current job I no longer save lives...I just prolong them now.

We help there as well. One of the best Long Term Care policies available and it's designed to keep people in their homes as long as possible instead of just throwing them into the nursing homes. It's amazing how many people under 40 are in them!

Your brother probably gave him your name as a referral. We don't work on cold calls (IE: grab a phone book and dial randomly).

It might be worth your time to give him a call back.

I am a bludger, spend all day waisting time on the internet. Sometimes I 4x4, but mostly I just annoy the neighbours, sneeking around their gardens & scaring their kids. I used to own a trailer & light steel manufacturing business, now I just bludge.

Ain't worth much. I traded it to learn guitar.

But yeah, Top Gear would be cool. Lets start a 4x4 version of Top Gear.

Great thread! Made me laugh.

I'll join the out of work electricians since there is more of them here. 30 years and it all means nothing in this economy. Not only is there no work, what does pop up is for drastically reduced wages.

If that runs thin there is always the out of work GC's, EC's Super's and PMs..............

I work for Michelin Tire as a millwright & industrial electrician going on 23yrs.
One of the great benefits are 20 free tires every five years, any size we want. Michelin also owns BF-Goodrich and Uniroyal. We can pick our tires from any of the three brands.

Emica, sounds like a nice perk especially for those of us who have tires that are gone in 3,000 miles or less!

4Point, I was working with a business owner today who started up something new. He had been at the same family owned business for 28 years. It was a family owned furniture company that employed over 3,500 people at it's peak. It was making a good profit, kept a small town going, good benefits, etc. In Dec 2000 the owner retired and sold it to a larger conglomerate. In Jan 2001 they pink-slipped all 3,500 employees, shuttered the factory, and moved 100% of this companies operations to China. That's 3,500 people who suddenly are out of work, a town about to shutter (which means real estate prices plummet), they can't afford to leave, they got no severance, their credit is now shot, etc. No one able to do anything about it as it was all done by the new owners in a legal manner.

This is happening every single day in this country and if you check the news our justice system just voted that it's perfectly okay for foreign investors/businesses to fund election campaigns. The question is what are we, as individuals and as a country, going to do about it?
