the fire service has changed drastically over the last 11 years and the BS that accompanies it became too much for me to want to deal with anymore. Mediocre pay at best, politicians screwing with your pension, economy tanked and haven't seen a raise in 5 years, in fact I took a 10% pay cut a couple years ago to keep my job. Miss a lot of special family events with the schedule. I could keep going...

I'm a "merc." I go where my employer tells me to.

I work everywhere from Food Lion to Walmart. I do merchandising and do product resets, stock products, build displays, post advertising products, and remove expired products from shelves.

Oh yeah, I set my own schedule and only do the jobs I wanna do.

Truck driver for a rendering company. what is rendering you ask? it is the original "green" company long before being green was cool. It is an "invisible" industry, because most people have never heard of or know what a rendering company is or does. I drive around to slaughter houses, grocery stores, packing houses and collect the waste.

The raw material is made into meat and bonemeal which is then used as a high quality protein for animal feed. not the most pleasant of jobs, especially in the summertime, but it pays the bills.

I WAS a IT Helpdesk Manager, BA in network Security, MCSE, MCP, MCSA, CNA, CNE, CCNA, CCNE A+, NET+, SEC+, Six Sigma Black belt of about ~200 for 6 years until the economy pooped on the company. Now I'm a low level IT help desk analyst grunt with foreclosures and repo's behind me in the worlds largest restaurant company making 1/3 of the salary with 3x the work. Lost the house, the cars, the land AND THE SUITS... but I kept the damn jeep and the wife and couldn't be happier
