I am a generator tech, great job, I get to travel, I dont deal with people much. I get to do engine work, diesel and gas. Electrical work, and dc control work. The pay is good and the hours dont suck either.

I love it, I have many hours in a J-3 and I used to own a J-4 Cub Coupe! Never flew on floats though!

I think the J-3 is the coolest thing I've ever flown, especially when on floats. It brings the act of actually FLYING the airplane back to the pilot. Flying behind a glass panel with a full FMS sure takes the workload out of flying the bigger planes, but it also takes the flying away from the pilot. Autopilots are nice, but there's just something surreal about flying a J-3. This piece was written about the Cub in a Flight Training magazine and I think it fits perfectly to these beautiful little ragwings...

The J3 Cub is taylor-made for that perfect day, that perfect place, that perfect state of mind when props and ragwings, sunlight and fresh-clipped grass all combine to form an inescapable conclusion in the mind of the practitioners that they are not in a traveling machine but, rather, a flying machine, a device intended for no other purpose than to get in the air, using a country-made airfoil to turn airflow directly into joy.

I wish I could credit the actual author of that article, but I saved this piece on my iPad and never recorded his name...

I haven't flown GA in years. There is a Cub that flies over from time to time, the sound of that A-65 is unmistakeable and sends me running for the back yard every time. I guess after 23,000 hours there's still some taildragger blood circulating through my veins... :-)

It's funny how we work and work to get type ratings to keep going bigger, but in the end all we want to do is fly stick and rudder in a plane we have to hand prop

It's not for everyone but good eyes and a lot of patience is the key. I run the backhoe and the dozer if they need me to but my back don't like them no more
