31 would imply to me it is 31 spline shafts.

The "M" and "F" mite mean Mosser fabrications.

or Mosser axel.

Is it Cromoly? And it does fit a stock d44 axle. I thought 30 spline. (Didn't count)

And yes thats a "E"

I looked up dana 44 axle shafts on google images and can't find any that resemble what you have. Jerry might be more help.

I noticed you posted another pic of your axle in another thread. are you trying to determine if your Jeep has a Dana 44? the Dana 35's have a rubber fill plug and the Dana 44's have an actual threaded fill plug. Hope that helps.

had a few sets a time ago...all had the M on the end of the shaft and the spline count. If it's not a moser...you got me.

If you see a 4130 anywhere on it, then I'd bet its Chromoly.
