A huge exhaust leak usually sounds like a huge exhaust leak.......Kinda hard to miss a thrown rod! Pretty ovbious. Post up a vid of it running and it should be easy to tell.

Well here is what happened. Strolling along on my way home from work. Hear a bang like a ujoint can out and the drive shaft was hitting something. Pull over and it's runs but barley.

My first post was a joke (that's what you would hear if my jeep threw a rod)

I could be wrong but I doubt the jeep would even run. You'd have a hole in the block. I think.

Sorry no vid. It's midnight here and the battery is dead. No leaks nothing just a bang bang bang when it's running definitely coming from the engine. Still will run but barely.
I just pick up a 91 cherokee with a 40,000 mile 4.0L. Was gonna use as a mud toy. Will this slap right into my 94 YJ?

First of all you're not going to get a vaild diagnosis from a description of a sound. Secondly, if it is idlling with a load banging, it doesn't matter what the diagnosis is really. Most likely it's a thrown rod and it might eventually punch a hole through the block, or not. In any event it's done.
