Wired up some home made in-cabin winch controls today. There are many good looking set-ups for sale on-line, but I didnt want to spend the money. 8$ at radio shack, an old extension cord, and a few scraps of wire and connectors I had laying around is all it cost me.
Red toggle is the "go-hot" switch (radio shack p/n 275-0010) and lights up when activated. The other is a dual-load momentary switch for winch in and out (radio shack p/n 275-709).
I already have another winch I want to set up on a reciever hitch cradle and add a second battery to my 12v. system. I will run quick connects to the rear for easy hooking and unhooking the second winch. Sometimes the rescue of other club members seems like it would be great to have a second winch on the rear. The dual-load momentary will allow for a second "go-hot" toggle and control both winches. Here is the back of the dash piece.
I used about 10ft. of an old green outdoor extension cord I had laying around. The 3 wire extension cord worked great for the hot, forward & reverse winching functions.
