Is the 2012 to fancy?

So I went to the dealer and looked at a loaded to the max JK. Darn, it was more fancy than my wife's STS. Have to admit that I was really impressed. However, I can't see myself driving through the woods, mud, rocks etc (such as superlift in Arkansan) in something that fancy. When I come back from wheeling it takes all day to clean my 07 JK inside and out. Maybe I worked to hard for my money. Do any of you do serious wheenling in your forty thousand dollar JK?

My 2010 Rubi sees the outdoors a lot, and some rock crawling. Scratches and dings to prove it. I love the creature comforts in new Jeeps, and wouldn't live without them, myself. That first scratch/dent is a painful one, however, but one gets used to it!!!

Yes, my 2012 is to fancy. Ordered to my specs for 30k.

Yes, I plan on wheeling in it. Some day my 2012 will be just like my old CJ5's I used to have. I am looking forward to being the one to get it there.

They are so fancy I have cars pull up next to me and ask if I have some Grey Poupon.

I'm a little leary about taking it off-road yet cause i know i'll scratch and dent it up. So after the "newness" wears off, it'll be going off too.

I think so.... but the funny thing is, I thought that of the TJ when it first came out. I had a YJ then... I have a LJ now, and can't imagine going back to that YJ.

I do believe there is a point where it is just too much electronics and interior appointments for a Wrangler.

Too fancy is subjective.

I want A/C, a heater, power steering, fuel injection, and a radio. Nothing more. I had to take airbags, even though I'd prefer not to.

I sorta wish my TJ had cruise control, BUT after a couple weeks of driving the 2.4L I think I can best the cruise control economy with my foot.

I personally think all jk's are too fancy...theres a lot more that can go wrong, more expensive to fix, and most things on them are a huge pain to work on.

Hell, even adjusting the ebrake is a pita...

I remember in 1985 when a buddy bought a brand new cj hardtop, everyone said how fancy it was for a jeep....

Is the Pope Episcopalian? Would a bear REALLY eat porridge?

Take it through the mud. Bang it off a few trees. Enjoy the fingernails-on-chalkboard sound of small branches carving their initials in your paint job, the thump of rocks denting your undercarriage.

"Fancy" can be easily fixed.

My '00 TJ doesn't have the fancies that the new wranglers do. And honestly to me, the more gadgets and upgrades you get (power windows and locks, heated seats, etc), then why buy a wrangler in the first place? I'm sure there are a lot of people who want to four wheel in leather heated seats but to me that takes away from the "let's get out and jump in that mud hole". Just don't care for them in general. I can spend 30k and build mine a beast for on and off road. But for now I like what I have. Can customize it how ever I want .

How do figure? You take off the rear tire remove the disc/caliper and turn a screw... Its much easier than adjusting any e brake Ive ever done. Try doing the one on my '94 F250...

Both of you are so wrong about the JK. It has options to get all that nice stuff. But I guarantee you mine is not much more advanced than your TJ.

I spent 23k brand new for my JK in late 09 (its a 10). It has no electronic locks/windows its got the baseline radio (only difference in your TJ one is no Ipod jack IF your radio is still stock) the ESP is disabled, TPMS is turned off; I have cloth seats, no carpet yada yada yada. They guys that actually wheel and beat on JK's dont have the fully loaded rubicons for the most part. If they have a lot of money... Sure.. But most of them are like me.

Doesnt look too advanced to me:

My brother, who had a CJ5, made the same comment about my '90 YJ.

I will say this the 11/12 interior Is a lot more modern without all the options, idk can you still get manual windows on the 11/12? I've only ever seen power windows

I have a '12 with manual windows.

Wouldn't have it any other way. I hate power windows.
