I wave at all Wranglers, I assume that those that don't wave just do not know know or are busy/distracted.

Maybe not from you. But I'm Preeeeeetty sure there are a lot of people who take it seriously. Like people who put me down for my Jeep because it isn't modded and likely won't be taken offroad. Or clump me in with soccer moms and other "put down" jeep terms because it isn't.

Around me I still get a lot of waves. I do see a lot of soccer moms driving the unlimited's though and they almost never wave. It seems as most of the "non wavers" are the new JK owners.

I'm in NC, Charlotte area, and I'd say I get about 90% return on YJ's, 70% on TJ's, and 50% on JK's. I'm a high schooler and all the Jeep kids I'm friends with know about the wave. Also got a nice wave back from a lady in an unmodded JK today, so that was pretty cool.

I have only had my jk one month and I have only had 2 people wave back so far. I live in the DFW area maybe that has something to do with it

The only way to keep it alive is to participate weather you get a return or not. Most out here are really good about it. So keep waving!!!

Let me apologize right now. I don't wave to other wranglers. If I were in a place where every other vehicle was not a jeep or if I were in a place where it was dangerous to be driving a jeep like in 1941 but not many people are sniping jeep drivers in the US yea I would wave but in Montana where every other vehicle is a wrangler nada no wave for you. call me a prick my feelings will not be hurt nor should yours if I don't wave back nothing personal just jeeps are not that special or rare in part of the country. Personally I pay more attention to traffic then worrying about spotting jeep to wave to.
Now if we are out in the sticks and I see you are having trouble I will stop and help every time.

I think the point of the wave is to acknowledge others who live the jeep lifestyle, not to "congratulate" them for owning one. It is the same reason why I've sat down to lunch with total strangers because we got talking about our Jeeps after parking next to eachother, etc.

Ya'll are makin, way to much of this... Wave if ya want. Don't if ya don't want. If ya gettin' uptight over a wave you're kinda missin' the point of jeepin'.

Me? I wave, don't care if they wave back.

Same here, like it or not, I'm gonna wave to you. A wave back is cool, if not I'll wave at the next one too.

To the other poster, I didn't think there was that much traffic in Montana that you had to keep your eyes glued on the road. I bet if there was a hottie hitch hiking on the side of the road you'd notice her real quick...

Never did understand the people that get all butthurt or mad about non-wavers. If someone not waving to you is the biggest concern in your life I guess you're pretty fortunate...

My reading comprehension is just fine. I've seen hundreds of butthurt wave posts and threads on multiple Jeep forums. And there is least one I see here in this thread.

Some people just enjoy being friendly in general! Here in Texas (minus Dallas and Houston...) everyone waves no matter what you drive if you are out on a road and there aren't many other people. It's just a nice thing to do. I know it brightens MY day to be nice to people... a smile goes a long way, just like a wave.

I don't know what kind of bitter person has to be anti-waving but if I had to guess they probably aren't very sociable in any other situation either.

So would it be safe to say that owning/driving a jeep is a social vehicle? Thats the impression I get since owning one since last summer...

About 2 years ago I went from second shift to first shift...and I waved every morning to this stock TJ sometimes SHE would wave, sometimes she wouldn't...fall/winter comes and can't see well enough to wave.... spring comes and back waving go through the summer like that (and I got married that summer) leave the house first day back to work...wife behind me in her JK I wave to the woman in the TJ, she waves and waves to my wife in her JK....that night my wife at the dinner table, "who was that woman that waved at you this morning?" me "IDK" , wife "she seemed surprised to seem me behind you." me "yeah she got a 2fer on the Jeep wave." wife "So is she in one of the Jeep clubs?"...me "IDK never see her anywhere but on that road"......wife just shakes her head.

OBTW the "other woman" in the TJ still waves, but she knows there will be 2 of us...until my wife retires in another month.....

It's all about location.

I see lots of jeeps....more than prolly 99% of ya...been waving since 89. I really get a thrill out of waving to the guys driving brand new wranglers to the train yard from the factory lots... they go in convoys of about 8.

No...I didn't. I quoted both of you because I AGREE with you that it's not a big deal if someone doesn't wave back to you. And you question my reading comprehension?

Living in a very small country and the Wranglers becoming more and more common here, especially on sunny days.. i'd say the spirit is still here.. Except
the peroxided soccer moms and the "trendy" traders..

Most of the Wranglers, (Grand) Cherokees, and sometimes truckers waves at me, I love it

I waved to a wrangler the other day he didnt wave back. Then I turned around and pulled him over. I asked why he didnt wave back he said. Um you're in a cop car not a jeep. I said Oh I guess you have a point there. LOL. jk

Truthfully though I do find myself waving at Jeeps when I'm working, I get some strange looks sometimes.

LoL after I sold my TJ a few years ago I found myself still waving from my truck. Wouldn't even notice unless my wife waved.

Glad I have another to wave from now. Though i didn't get any waves back today.
