Hows the undercarriage, rust? Rot? Hows the suspension and all the other stuff underneath? Id say 2k maybe 2500 in current condition but thats just me. I got mine for 3500 and there was only some rot on the frame, no not an easy fix but only cost me 500 for the welding. If the engine and all the other essentials are in good shape then yeah may be worth it

undercarriage is rust free...only issue is dent on gas tank, and slight oil leak

Wouldnt be to bad a deal imo... if your ok with the cosmetic the price to fix it up wouldnt be to bad. As long as it runs strong and doesnt have rot its a good wrangler! Although id try to make sure on what that oil leak is from before anything, at least if you know its a small fix you wont be hit with something you didnt expect. Your probably planning on doing upgrades anyway so most of it isnt that bad. 2000-2500 if you can get him down to that would be good

Did you inspect every inch of the undercarriage? Pay close attention to the tcase skid area of the frame. Also take a hammer and beat on the frame to see if any chunks brake loose. That rotten rear corner is a red flag.

I think thats a good deal. Does it have a BB? It seems to be a bit taller than a stocker

Good news, talked him down to 4200
Bad news I'm torn between buying bfg's or getting a set of pro comps with wheels for a package deal from quadratec.

I'm confused. I thought he wanted $2800 for it?

For 2800 yes, that a good deal if the frame isint rotted out. You could do the majority of the required TLC yourself.

If he wants $4200 for it, I would have to pass. You can buy some damn nice YJ's for $4200. That Jeep isnt much newer than an Omega YJ.

Sorry 2400. Ignore my minor dyslexia there, haha. I can't wait to start modding and actually taking care of it though. It's a shame what some people do to their jeeps

yes please stop jeep abuse haha... my 98 tj was close to gone when i got it, rot all up and down the frame, rust everywhere engine needed help, fluids looked like theyd never been changed and ive brought it back from the death haha. I got lucky and all the welding, and there was alot, only cost me $400. The guy installing it jerked me around for 3 weeks saying he'd have it done, lift kit new 33s and all the welding in 1 week but it ended up taking 3 weeks. I had to be back to louisiana from mass or i was awol so he basically only kept the 400 i put down in the beginning and apoligized cause he ended up never doing the lift kit so i picked it up from his place and ran it over to a friend of mine who puts in lift kits and he did it in 1 day for $600 on friday had to be back to base by monday... god was that a nightmare, oh and i blew the radiator on the way down at 4pm on a saturday. Good luck with your jeep, hopefully its a great jeep for you!

$2400 can't be beat. I was close to giving 3k for a '89 YJ that had had a rough life, but would have cleaned up real nice. If it would have had a top on it, I would have brought it home.

I'd pick it up for 2400...you could do most of the work yourself in order to get it running like a top. Oil leak is most likely a rear main seal and the rest would be fixed pretty easy.

Good luck, man!

What tires would you recommend? I ran a set of procomps on my yj but they were heavy, and ran out fast. (Mudders)

I know I'm gonna get all terrains on this tj because it's gonna see off-road 2% of the time

So I'm thinking between bfg's or the procomps package deal off quadratec...(Since I need wheels also.)...or if you guys recommend the bfg's...do you guys know of another place to get wheels that aren't 500$

I got bfg at's and cragar soft8s in black 4 of them for about $1200 off ebay 250 for each tire and 52 for each rim. Love the bfgs but that price is for 33s so im not sure what your trying to run in respect to size, thats just the cheapest i found for bfgs... I like the look of the soft 8s too

I like the soft 8's. They're a steel wheel, so they're a little heavy, but they look good & they're stout. The D window wheels look clean as well but they're a little more than the soft 8's. If I were in the market for A/T's I would be looking at the BFG's or Duratracs. You can't go wrong with either.

x2 dont really like the thought of alloy over steel. Heard alloys can get dented easy, well easier. Soft 8s were definitely worth the price, they work just as well as any of the other over priced wheels out there and look damn good to me.
