Hello, a friend of mine has a family member with a 1998 Jeep wrangler sahara that he is going to sell. The only reason he is selling it is because he has a family now and needs a bigger vehicle. Its a 6 cyliner, hard and soft top, Sahara edition and all stock. Ive been talking to my friend for a few weeks now about the jeep when i see him. He said that the person selling the Jeep is rebuilding the back end of it after hearing a noise. I was going to pay 5000 for it but after hearing that he is going to rebuild the rear end what do you guys thing. It has 90,000 miles and is a 5 speed. I havent seen it yet, but the guy says its in good condition.
The best advise I can give you is find a good mechanic, Garage and let them give it a once over I do it with every used vehicle i purchase they usually charge me about 50 to 100 bucks to me its worth it.
x2; if you aren't sure about things yourself, take the Jeep to someone who is and that you trust. $5000 isn't bad, but I've seen better deals for a 98 manual (although that certainly depends on your location, so take that into consideration). Buying stock is always a plus.
Well i finally got to see the jeep, its in excellent condition. The rear end still has to be replaced, but the owners cousin is going to do that and im still getting it for 5k. I took some pictures of it. Here are the pictures, sorry for the snow. Jeep pictures by Christianthebuckmaster - Photobucket
