Not larger. You get Rubicon tires and suspension, hood sticker, and different color seats. Maybe some dash trim stuff.

the stock rubicon/mountain/islander has a 255/75r17(32") tire, where as a sport has a 225/75r16(29") tire. im pretty sure 32 is larger then 29......

Not all Sport's come with that size. My X came stock with 255.75R.17 I'm pretty sure that's tha same size.

ok, then let me re-phrase that. Jeep has the stock tire on the base sport/x listed as 225/75r16. so the rubicon/mountain/islander does have a larger tire then the base factory wrangler.

Well now that we have that out of the way. I like the Islander. I like the colors available, but I don't think that the seats look right in anything but the islander blue or white ones. The only thing that I am not crazy about is the huge squatting tiki but that is cosmetic and removable.

The Mountain is a little different. It has different color wheels, bumper trim, mat hood decal, dash accents and front grill. It also has a fuel door. Does the Islander have the fuel door?

I think the Islander looks best in surf blue and silver and the Mountain in mango tango and rescue green. Black is just ok with both and any other color is horrible.

I THINK (if we are talking old skool Islander) that they also had a larger fuel tank.

Are you looking at the Islander specifiically, because of the added Package, or are you looking at the Color and Tires? The Islander Colors available are, Surf (Smurf) Blue, White, Silver, and Black. My personal favorite is the Surf Blue, of the group!

You could most likely get the same color you want in a Sport Model, with the upgraded S-Package, that would include the Rubicon Wheels & Tires. You wouldn't have the matching seat covers or Tiki Bob Decals, but it could save you $1,120 in the price difference, that can be used to Mod it as you'd like. You can buy lotsa Mods for $1,120!

Just asking!

Best of Luck!

Cheers!

I have the Islander package on my Silver 2010 and I picked it cause it was the best equipped non-unlimited & non-rubi on the dealer lot.....
I like the TIKI accents and so on..... it was a win win......
I kinda liked the surf blue but I wasn't passing on the deal I got on this one....
Its really just a cool package to have something different from the other 100's of jeeps in the Pittsburgh area.......

If I HAD to get a JK it would either be the Blue Islander, or the Orange Mountain. Love the painted grey grills on the Mountain.

I've had my 2010 Mountain for only a few weeks now, about 600 miles on it so far. I also work at the dealer that I bought it from, so to clarify -

The suspension on the Islander/Mountain is the same as the Sport models with the P255/75R17 tires. The Sport with P225/75R16 has a different type of suspension (I think it's coils, instead of compressed air shocks?)
If you can find a Mountain, and like it better, you're getting more bang for your buck I think. You get the charcoal wheels/grill/hood/bumper, a leather wrapped steering wheel (I don't think Islander has that standard?), and the Mopar black tail light guards and gascap cover.
