Ive been driving some sort jeep for quite a few years and id say people waving back is about 50 /50

jeep wave is something people who love the vechile do. not everyone loves them for the culture that comes with them

some people that have that sticker may be a little misguided and don't really understand it, but the sticker does say, "it's a JEEP thing" not "it's a wrangler thing," just my .02 though.
Nice looking Commander, now if we could arrange a top chop, make it into the old Commando! Or, how about a factory diesel?!

some people know how to handle a vehicle offroad. doesnt matter if its a wrangler, liberty, toyota, or subaru justy. some people just know what they are doing and make it look easy. Dont judge by the ride.

Yeah we dog our buddy pretty bad about having a "chick jeep" Liberty. He really likes it though and couldn't care what we say

My brother and I both have Cherokees and haven't liked the Liberty since they brought it out and dumped the Cherokee. Never really understood that move. Did see an older stock Liberty the other day with a brush guard and it made me smile.

I do like the boxy look of the Commander and think they are pretty cool trucks. Even the newly designed Liberty is much better looking then the old style.

It's all good though...

My mother has a 2000 cherokee sport and she has a sticker that says "silly boys, jeeps are for girls" Pretty cool for a 60 year old lady. Here in CT. I pass by at least 10 or more Wranglers a day and most wave if I do. I pass by the same 4 Jeeps every morning on my way to work, 2 are JK's and they never waved until after a few months of me waving and beeping at that them, now they wave every day.
I don't wave at Liberties, patrioits, Commanders or cherokees. I have stopped for stranded wranglers though. I believe that a Jeep Thing refers to Wranglers only. I always strike up a conversation with fellow Jeepers anywhere I see them from gas station to parking lots. No one with a liberty or cherokee has ever started a conversation with me in a parking lot, but Wrangler people always do. Again "It's a Jeep Thing" refers to Wrangler only. Just my opinion.

Cool mom

I would have to agree with the "Jeep Thing" and Wranglers.

i'm going to have to disagree. i have a cj, which is not a wrangler, should i not get that sticker? do I not understand because it is not a wrangler? the "jeep thing" philosophy has been around longer than the wrangler has. some people don't consider the 4 door jk a wrangler because "true" wranglers only have 2 doors, so would 4 door jk owners not understand then? the only thing that makes a wrangler a wrangler is the sticker on the side. really, yj's were practically cj's w/ a different grille for the first few years.

and jess, i think seeing that comander wheel is awesome. i've been in a few, they are cool trucks.
I just sold 2 wranglers and bought a compass and another car. Didnt want to but had to make something work for my new family. Would some say I dont "get it"? I would say I do and love to see that someone else agrees. I will be back in a wrangler someday when my little one is older.

You are right. It's a Jeep Thing has probably been around much much longer. I have a Cherokee as does my brother and sister and we love 'em. So I wasn't trying to exclude any of them.

I've just always thought the unique styling of the CJ, YJ, TJ etc just looks right with the "Jeep Thing" sticker ... and I do tend to use Wrangler in a generic way ... my bad

i think "its a jeep thing, you wouldnt understand" refers to the enjoyment that jeep drivers get from their rides. Whether a liberty, wrangler. willy, or whatever. I dont know the idiot who invented the slogan, nor care to. But, if you think about it from that perspective, it makes sense...

Cool wind in hair, sun shining in, ability to go offroad, all that jazz.

Im sure almost every model of Jeep ever made (even my ex wifes POS Compass 4x4) has madea 4x4 model that did somewhat ok off road. Whether or not the top was removable is null and void at this point. But regardless, a Jeep is a Jeep as far as trademarks go.

I have to agree with so many others, i think it is gay to see it on a 2wd bone stock compass or liberty. They might have decent ground clearance, but they are worthless off road. I cant see the similarity in the formentioned "Jeepin good time" in any Liberty or Compass. I got that damn Compass stuck more times than i can remember.

I've never gotten my Libby stuck, and i've driven it off-road in places stock wranglers are afraid to go.

I wish i had pics of all the times i had that Libby covered head to toe in mud.

Hell, I'm trying to talk my SO into letting me sell the Mercedes SLK 230 and getting another Jeep for her to drive! But she's stubborn... Makes my driveway look kinda funny, tho... LOL
on a side point, we got A LOT of snow here last winter. And I mean A LOT. The Mercedes, while supercharged, is still rear-wheel only drive, and was stuck. In.My.Level.Driveway. It was funny /rant

You (us) can tell when you pass a jeeper. I don't wave at soocer moms driving the kids in the Grand Cherokee or the guy in the suit and tie in his new JK. These people wouldn't know a locker from a tow strap. BUT.....I/we know when we see someone who knows what they got....hence...a wave.

My brother got me one of those stickers for my stocker TJ (that I DO wheel) as a joke; you see, I HAVE rolled my Jeep, only that one was a brand new, off-the-lot Grand I got in '04. Not a rig by any means, but snowy roads can suck sometimes. I also rolled a Subaru in highschool on a dirt road, so the sticker has some significant meaning to vehicles I drive

I have to say if its not a CJ, YJ, TJ, LJ, JK then the sticker cannot go on. Sorry my opinion. Look if I have a honda motocylce rip off the decals and put a loud exhaust on (which I have seen) does it mean I am the same as a Harley? I have 2 wheels and a loud exhaust why cant I be?? Cherokee maybe but a Liberty or Compass PLEASE come on now.

The great thing about this country is every person is entitled to their opinion, whatever it may be. I personally do not like the previous gen Liberty (KJ), they just looked weird, the current gen looks pretty good. And I love jgano's Commander, that thing is sweet. As for driving a Wrangler with a suit and tie, I've taken mine to interviews and client sites in suit and tie, or golf shirt. I still wave cause I do get it. Also, not sure about other countries, Melby you can help me out on this one, when I was in New Zealand earlier this year, the Liberty over there was nnot called the Liberty, it was a Cherokee. I didn't see any when I was in Australia so I don't know if it's a Kiwi thing or not.

It's called a Liberty here because Jeep wanted to market it differently. They feared that they would get a highly negative response for calling it a Cherokee - but it is a 'Cherokee'
