Jeep Baby Crossover Gets Rendered (Jeep Latitude)

Rendering via AutoExpress

Scheduled to be unveiled at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show in March, alongside the Euro-spec 2014 Jeep Cherokee, the brandís all-new subcompact SUV (Lattitude) is still a mystery as far as design and powetrains are concerned.

Although Jeep has yet to drop the camouflage off its new vehicle, which was spotted several times by our spy photographers in Italy and Sweden, the folks over at Auto Express took a shot at guessing whatís beneath the black covers.

The rendering takes inspiration from the familiar Jeep Wrangler and features the same boxy shape and squared-off wheel arches seen across the automakerís lineup. The seven-bar front grille is flanked by round headlamps, despite Jeepís efforts in making them looks square on their test vehicle.

The new crossover will be built in Fiatís factory in Melfi, Italy, alongside the 500L model, who will be donating its 0.9-liter TwinAir, 1.4-liter MultiAir and 1.6-liter MultiJet engines.

Seriously? The Compass, Cherokee, and now THIS? Ridiculous. Just make Wrangler it's own brand and they can make all the mall-rated "inspired by the outdoors" junkmobiles they care to. They seem to have given up.

I think if I put a piece of blue playdo in my hands and tried to make a ball withit really quick...this is what I'd come up with. I've had family members that have had the patriot, liberty, commando, and one other failure I can't remember. Jeep needs to stick with 3 vehicles. The cherokee, wrangler, and improved version of the liberty. Price points need to be 17-30 for liberty, 40-60 for Cherokee, and 25-50 for wrangler.

Can somebody point out the "inspiration from the familiar Jeep Wrangler"? It looks like an effed up baby Cherokee/Subaru Outback thing with round headlights......

grill and headlights could be inspired(and i use that term loosely) by the JK. only similarity i can see.
would i buy one? hell no
but if it helps jeep meet all the cafe standard stuff, etc, so they can keep making the wrangler, then i am all for it.

Good point.
Maybe it is "taking one for the team".
Now, if they turned it into a rally inspired vehicle with a turbo and AWD, that might be kinda cool....

Well there goes what ever meaning the Jeep name had...right off a cliff. I honestly am afraid to even think about what Fiat is going to do to the Wrangler for 2015-16... Im glad I have one of the last descendants of the CJ heritage the TJ, God only knows what those Italian designers at Fiat will try to Globalize the Wrangler it will end up looking like a Samurai and Fiat 500 mashed up

I won't own one but if it helps them deal with our US fuel efficiency standards by all means have at it.

I hardly think this is the direction need for fuel standards. If they want to do that then they should engineer direct injection turbo engines, the six speed manual helps. This is just another gimmick to get into the small SUV market.

I actually kinda like it. They could have done MUCH worse things to the Jeep's image.
