Jeep CJ7 vs. TJ

I have an 85 CJ7 with a 4.2L I6 and a T-5 transmission. It also has a hardtop. The frame, hood, windshield frame, and fenders have no rust. The body has a little rust. There is a 2002 Jeep TJ Sahara with the 4.0L V6 and 5 speed transmission for sale and was wondering what you guys think some pluses and minuses would be?
Thanks

Its still a inline 6 but pluses would be more comfortable. Better gas mileage and power (fuel injection). Coil spring suspension will give a better ride the leaf sprung suspension and offer more flex. Some come with a D44 rear end. The rubicon has D44 front and rear with 4.10 gears 31 inch tires and air lockers front to rear. Just to give you an idea on pluses. Also a more comfortable interior you really can go wrong....

I have both. If its not a dd then put some 1 tons on the cj and wheel it hard. Tj is a better ddbut imo it would be cheaper to mod the cj to do more.

i've got both. my cj7 is great on the trail and i wouldn't want to ride in anything else. my tj is a much better daily driver.

if you are looking to daily drive the tj here are the pluses:
no carburetor
newer
gauges work
coil springs
less of a death trap

The knob won't fall off when you turn the heat or lights on with the TJ.

As the former owner of a 75 CJ5 304 3 speed with 3/4 ton running gear and 89YJ I4 5sp STOCK, , a current owner of 82 CJ7 I6 4sp STOCK, 93 YJ I6 Auto STOCK, 93 Toyota p'up I4 5sp, and 95 I4 5sp YJ STOCK.... I would highly recommend doing whatever makes you feel good. The CJ5 was a definite TANK and would crawl over whatever. The CJ7 is not a creature comfort vehicle, but is so much better built than the YJs it is ridiculous. These YJs rust out at the slightest hint of bad weather. I am not intimate with the TJs, but have test drove several and would not give you a nickel for their "coil spring" car like ride. Just not my idea of "off road worthiness"......As far as long term durability, my yoda has outdone them all.......200,000+ miles and still starts every single time I ask it......
