I'll keep my fingers crossed for you guys and you get your diesel, you so need one.

I love mine, 400 miles per tank and enough torque to pull a house down.

Signed it. I have a Dodge Ram with the 5.9 Cummins. Way better than the gas engines and over 20 MPH in a 3/4 ton quad cab! Would love a Jeep with a diesel.

If they actually made one, it would probably be the next vehicle i buy (being a long ways down the road)

I think a 2 door Rubicon sporting a diesel would be amazing

Jeep and Chrysler wanna got out of the dog house, simple. Take the 97 to 06 TJ, replace the 4.0 with the 3.7 diesel and put in a 4 spd auto tranny. Sell it for 17 to 24K and get outta the way of the showroom door's !!!! Chrysler will be in profits inside of 3 months. Make a 5 spd manual and sell it for 18k flat and it will sell at list !!! A TJ that can go over 20+ MPG on a single 16 gal tank is what we all need. SAme thing for the Commander. Swap out the gas for the diesel, make sure the O/D tranny is in there and it will sell faster than the Minivan's when they came out. Be a lot safer too !!

When they still made the diesel Liberty for the U.S. market it was a $3695 dollar option back in 2005. This was a $2845 difference from the V6 gas option. A reasonable price difference in my opinion which is also in line with what today's suggested price difference would be if a diesel were offered in a JK Wrangler.

I just signed the petition. I have yet to buy my first JKU because the mileage is garbage. I will immediately order the JKU Rubicon if it is a CRD. Not only because of the mileage and low end torque, but because of the longevity of the diesel motor. My mother in law has the CRD Liberty and she loves it, I drove it and love it too. I'm considering buying a used one and rebuilding the front end for off roading.

Bloody Heck Bazzer - how do you fit a JK on some of those smaller UK roads ??
Whenever I visit over there I hire the smallest car possible, and even so am amazed at the small gaps UK drivers zoom blithely through.
Note to US drivers, not only are UK roads narrow, but, places like N. Wales don't have white lines on the sides of the roads, they have bloody stone walls, and, there are lorries coming the other way *shudders*
On the diesel note, the last time I was over there I hired (rented) a Saab 9000 with a diesel engine - what a wonderful power plant - wish we had more diesel options here in the US, especially for our jeeps.................

Wow you got ripped off ,, my wife's 05 CRD Sport, listed at around 28,00, we haggled away for nearly 2 months, threw in my manufacturers discount at the 11th hour, and walked out with a 22700 bill... A great deal.. You must be quoting MSRP for the "limited" model...

Im only quoting historical numbers based upon a 2005 Car & Driver article, I wouldnt have bought a Liberty for myself. Not my style of platform, but the article does support the financial viability of a CRD option. Your price numbers sound much better though!

Would be cool! But if you want a diesel just have a professional installer drop one in your current Jeep?

Would prolly cost around 10k but whats 10k compared to a 30k new vehicle?? Lol. Unless you plan to get a new JKU anyways.

It's quite easy mate. Especially with a JK, there's not much vehicles biggar than my JK so they tend to yield to let me pass, except the lorries that is. I live out in the countryside where the roads are similar to those you have seen in Wales, albeit, where I live, the mole hills are the highest points in my county. The beauty with a diesel is I have the torque to overtake those dilly day dreams just crawling along at 40mph.

You just get used to the width and how close you can get without a scrape. You do have to be careful where you choose to change the radio station or adjust the heating though.

I get amazed when I drive in the US. The roads are so much wider and no corners/bends or roundabouts to negotiate. Hell, you can even turn right on a red light.
