My daughter has her permit and has been asking for me to teach her to drive the Jeep. I think she has enough time behind the wheel of the car so I toss her the keys to the Jeep and she is excited. I tell her the only thing is she has to wave. It's the rules. I don't make them up but she has to follow them.
Here is the bias. She only sees 30% of the other Jeeps but gets 90% wave back or wave first. I didn't get those kind of numbers at the last Jeep rally.
Good news is she loves driving the Jeep and secretly loves the wave even though she makes fun of me about it.
Before you Offroad ... Be Prepared! The very FIRST thing to do to your Jeep should go IN your Jeep - EMERGENCY AND RECOVERY GEAR!!!!! It may be the difference between getting home late and not getting home at all!!!!!!
2013 JKU Sport (Flame Red) RETIRED
2014 JK Rubicon (Granite)
I've noticed that TJ and older models all still wave but the Jk not so much not hating I really like the new jeeps for what they are but just saying seems to be a more arrogant crowd or maybe just in my area of world
I know you want to keep traditions, but if she is just learning to drive forget about the wave. She has enough on her mind learning driving basics. She does not need any extranious actions to distract her.
I thought I was crazy. I was taught the wave when I was younger so I was kind of excited to finally be able to participate. I bought my Jeep about two weeks ago, and I haven't seen one person wave back to me. :-(
My girlfriend just got her license a few weeks ago, and the first thing she wanted to do was take a day trip to the next state over in my jeep
I told her that the only rule is that she has to wave to jeepers, hehe. She forgets quite a few times but that's because she's focused on driving, can't blame her there! But I'm usually able to wave from the passenger seat. She enjoys getting waves back, and actually gets upset over those 2013 JKU-driving trophy wives that don't wave back
I was out of town for a month working and my wifes sunroof in her cherokee broke. It rains a lot here so she was driving my wrangler. I talked to her on the phone and she says "all these jeeps are waving at me?" So I tell her about the jeep wave and that she has to wave back if she wants to drive the wrangler. We live in a small town and I dont want people hating my jeep...
SO the next week we're on the phone and I ask how the jeeps treating her and if she's been waving back. She says its running good and she has been waving. Then she tells me that she decided shes only gonna wave at "real" jeeps and lifted cherokees. She says everyone wants to wave at me and me to wave back, but when Im in my stock cherokee I dont wave and nobody wants me to. And besides that liberty's are ugly...
All this "opinion" in a week of driving a beat up YJ on 35s. I was actually in shock when she was telling me this.
Then when I got home we went for a ride and she drove just to show me how many people waved at her. I dont know if its the difference between a guy and an attractive woman or the fact she had it detailed or both. But she did get waves from all kinds of jeeps? Ive owned 5 cherokees and 2 wranglers from mild to wild. The built cherokees usually wave at each other and the "real" jeeps wave at eachother, but I have never seen all this co-mingling among the brand like when my wife drives my wrangler. It is kind of annoying...lol
I almost never get a wave back where I live. But when I do it's always a girl in her stock tj with the cute flower tire cover that always waves and winks at me. I'm not whining about that but but I wish some others with built jeep would.
I live in brooklyn aka the rude, obnoxious and snorty capital of the world and there are tons of jk's, tj's and some yj's. In the 2 years ive had my tj i can honestly say ive gotten one wave. It was from some guy with a bad ass built jeep so he was obviously a true jeeper!
