Unfortunately DC has decided that this would not be a profitable vehicle to manufacture. My understanding is that as of now it is dead.

From what I hear it is built on it's own platform. Not working off of an existing chassis. Therefore most parts would be dedicated to this model only. I don't think they believe that sales would support that. I also heard some lame comment that they already have the Dakota and don't feel the need for another pickup type vehicle. The other thing is the size of the bed. At a little over 5 feet is is not truly a pickup type bed. A little small for what most pickup users would want. It is a cool looking ride though and maybe at some point they will reconsider.

I actually heard from a Chrysler Exec at the Jamboree this year that they were pushing forward with the Gladiator. I would really love to be able to buy a tow vehicle that was a Jeep...

If you have to ask what it is or what it does, you don't need it, and you will need help to install it!

So you want a 3/4 ton with a Cummins that has a Jeep grill on it? That would be cool for me.

Damn! I hate it when they lie to me like that! I was actually under the impression (or simply created it in my dilluded little mind) that it would be a full size, either half or 3/4 ton like a J-truck, tow rig. Guess that won't happen either! Oh well, back to the waiting for Jeep to make a tow rig!

Imagine the nerve of an automobile manufacturer actually wanting to be profitable! Sounds like it was a close call on the Challenger as well.

Why don't you get socalchef to fabricate a tow rig for you!!! I bet that would be an awesome rig!!!!!!!!

Despite the strong favorable consumer response, the final go-ahead was issued only after President and CEO Tom LaSorda ordered that the business case be based on the high-margin scenario of a limited production run and scaled-down volumes.

Yeah, when I was at the dealership a couple days ago shopping for a TJ, they tried talking me into pre-ordering the Challenger. They must be on smack or something.

Well that blows, leave it to big business to throw out a scrap and then pull it out of our jaws just as we bite. lol anyway I guess I will find something else to druel over if it had gone through I might have traded in the Fiances acura to get one, OK well that wouldn't fly so I would have found a way because the Old TJ stays.
