I have never been to a jamboree or talked to anyone about it. What should I expect if I go. Do you just go wheeling or is there other stuff happening when your not on a trail somewhere?
Wrench Bender...look up Jeep Jamboree. It will give you way way more details than I can. I have been to 3 Jamborees and I can honestly say it was some of the best wheeling I have ever done.
So, you say that, but the homepage of JeepJamboreeUSA.com gives practically zero indication of what the heck it is. As someone who builds and markets websites for a living, maybe it's just a pet peeve of mine, but on every website's homepage, there should be at least a brief description of *what* the website is for.
Looking through the pages, it looks like... a series of trails, staggered by date throughout the country? All I can really see is that there are two nearish me, one is sold out, and the other is a trail in the Alleghany Mountains.
I went to my first JJ in 2014 on Drummond Island, it was awesome. Before I actually went, I questioned myself about it being worth the $325 to attend. When it was finished there was no doubt that someday I will return to that JJ. Everything about the JJ I loved. The wheeling, meeting other like minded people, and actually seeing what my Jeep can do are some of the reasons why I enjoyed it so much. I will be attending the Attica, IN JJ at the Badlands in 2015. I would do Drummond again, but I would like to experience something different first.
I have done the Jeepers Jamboree Rubicon trail for the last 5 years. I think it is about the same as the JJ, now others will say it over priced but that's all a matter of opinion. To me and the group I go with we have a blast and not packing all that cooking equipment, etc is worth it to me.
Once again, I lost track of the day of the month and missed out on the Lone Star Spur. I really wanted to go to that this year and I screwed up again. Maybe I will end up at one of the other southern events later in the year.
I plan on doing the JJ in Attica, IN along with the Badlands. I'm just not sure what to expect as I've never been to one before. I still got some work to do to the rig beforehand. I want to get my Zone lift kit on with my Duratracs for sure.
The guys at the Jamborees take good care of you..just listen to the carefully and follow the spotters instructions...you will do things you don't even think possible!!
I really hope I am able to get my lift on in time. Ideally it would be both the lift and the tires but I'll probably just do the lift to save a little money
That's what it says, but it said the same thing or something like that last year. I was at the Drummond Island JJ and there were Jeeps with 40s there. We asked one of the trail guides about that rule and they said they have had bad experiences with guys who think they know it all, and they are the ones who run 40" tires.
I agree with some of the statements above. I do think t is more for the weekend warrior type off road guy vs the hard core buggy guys. I think it is a great thing myself.
My wife and I will be attending the Tennessee Mt. JJ. for the third time. It has been great each time and the only three day event. Also considering the new one at Uwharrie NC.
I did the Gateway to the Cumberlands in KY a couple of years ago and had a great time. I'm heading to the one in WV at the Greenbrier the first weekend in Nov. I hope to do at least one a year until a am no longer able.
