Jeep Off Road Trailer

Hey guys,

Well, I really want to start a jeep trailer project. I have found a couple of builds I like and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or plans for one they have done. I really like the way this guys came out. What do you think?

Anyone have any ideas on what type of frame to use if I can find a tub that I want to use?

im not so sure if trailers need off road tires lol i think regular tires will do because there just rolling no power in them

that thing is awesome. plus the tires on the trailer look to be the same as on the jeep, so it can come in handy if you get a flat.

Hey guys,

I am planning to build one so I will post pics along the way. I have my eye on some decent priced tubs already.

$5k - nice but not affordable for a "trailer".

looking at the pics looks like he used the jeep frame and added the center peice for the hitch. Just like you make a pickup bed trailer.

That is a little steep for the price but after I thought about it, hell three name brand mud terrains with 90% tread and three alloy rims that is a grand right there alone. Throw in the tub, the top lift system, and other various materials plus labor to build that thing he probably has a great deal invested into it.

I would not pay that much and neither would you but hell look at the bid history it has 5 bids and its up to $4500.00 there always a sucker out there somewhere. I wouldn't think he has more than that tied up in it though the reserve still has not been met I wonder how much he's tryn to get out of that thing.

I am thinking if I can get a crazy good deal on a wrecked tj or yj with the frame still intact......I can probably build one for half what this guy is asking. I also agree that the same wheels and tires as my TJ aren't necessary and simply for taste.

What do you guys think??

I would go for it, I could probably build it cheap also but I just don't have the time or room to store it. I've been wanting to get a pull behind for a while now but I need mine to be more functional like being able to haul quads, lawnmowers, and other various large stuff. Thats just for camping and wheeling trips not much you can haul with that thing but camping and recovery gear. It would not be very useful to me but look cool as hell behind my jeep.
drew ballz you should start a build thread and keep track of how much you put into it. I'll subscribe to it I'm sure it will turn out awesome.

im still wondering why you think you couldnt use a TJ tub instead or a YJ.

read your last post and his trailer is actually a CJ tub.

That is a nice looking trailer but for $4651 (reserve not met) I will just go out and buy a spare jeep to tow behind my jeep.

I know crazy isn't it, I was just thinking the same thing you could probably buy a nice wrecked jeep for $4500.0 and have a ton of spare parts. These guys are paying $4500.0 for a tub and three nice mud tires, the axle under this thing looks like one you could probably buy at harbor freight for $200.00. But there are some people out there that do not have any mechanical skills what soever and will fork out the dough for this unique jeep trailer because they could never build it.

I agree with the functionality part. I was thinking the same thing. When I build something, I like to think about ways to improve functionality to my taste. When I finally get around to building, I will start a thread.
