| Jeep pitching new military vehicle
Found this on the Motor Trend forums. I understand it's been built for other military, but U.S. Military has been dominated by Humvee for so long. Now that they will be owned by a Chinese company, seems like an excellent time to take a serious look at Jeep again... Jeep pitching J8 to U.S. military - Motor Trend The General Forum Forum
If this is old news, my apologies, I hadn't heard.

If they made this in Detonator Yellow, I'd be all over it!!!
Cheers!

The Chinese company bought the General Motors HUMMER brand, not AM General.

I've been looking this thing over for some time now. There is a design feature that I'm guessing will be problematic. Those damned high backed bucket seats are gonna be cumbersome to deal with if you're driving the thing with body armor and a helmet on.
I know - I know... "It's not armored enough to be military"... Pshhh, you've never seen an un-armored HMMWV then. All aluminum and canvas... I think (IMHO) it would make one hell of a scout car. Not much of a payload but could be just the ticket when you need a highly mobile vehicle. I like the fact that they have opted for leaf springs instead of coils in the back. It makes for a stable platform for carrying the extra weight the weapons systems require. I'd like to see one up close. A few things trouble me though, those damned plastic grille and fenders not really suited to a military environment and what the hell is up with that tire/wheel combo?! Street tires on a military vehicle ain't gonna cut it!

Regardless, I support Jeeps taking back their rightful place in the US Military.

This is kinda old news but no need to apologize.
The J8 looks like a sweet rig to me. I read that the air intake is designed so the car can be driven during a sand storm and not have problems.
