Jeep Trends

Not sure if this should be off topic....but its about jeeps.

Everyone knows that with hobbies comes trends ,like emo kids wearing girls jeans and legwarmers in the eighties. So with jeeps there has got to be trends. So since i know theres jeepers on here that have been off roading for years and years. Lets hear some of those trends.... For example i would say bushwacker flares were really big for a couple years....lets here some more....

This can be after market things you can buy, or stuff that some one did and someone else saw and it just caught on.

You can start by talking about Black Steelies. I never saw a black steel wheel on a jeep til about 2001 or so.. now that is the most popular thing to do to your jeep whether it is for looks or functionality.

Stretching the wheel base when doing a lift seems like a big thing right now.

How 'bout the LACK of a trend: The Jeep Wave

I hate to say it, but I see fewer and fewer people returning the wave. To wit, there was a time last year that I counted (for a couple months) the Jeeps that I passed. Out of 147 Jeeps, 3 waved -- and one of those looked at me like I was a psycho.

Must be another time continuum from another planet....... Most states only allow 1 tread width sticking out...But then I've only lived on this planet for fifty years.

Must be nice...Pa doesn't allow anything sticking out past the flares.

agreed. i am not sexist but from my observations most women do not wave. many whom are driving with their tops down and doors on and windows rolled up. maybe or maybe not talking on the phone...

I hate to say it, but I think a big part of the dying Jeep wave is this new 4 dr JK, a lot of "new" Jeepers, they don't know about the wave. Don't flame me, I'm not ragging on the JK, just a lot of first time Jeepers not bothering to wave...

How about chicks driving Jeeps? Now there's a new trend. Back in the 80's and 90's I never remeber seeing a female driver. Where I live, I'd say 1 in 5 Jeeps are driven by women now (young and old).

Now that's a new trend in my book.
