What is your feelings about the JT pickup concept? Would you buy one?

I would buy one, but only if it comes in a diesel and has the capacity to tow my TJ!

I had a MT 4.0 4x4 and it was a sweet truck, but the cab was just too small for me. I think the JT will be even better. I shall wait to try one out though, not to replace my TJ, but my truck!

They are definitely cool - but as for being any kind of practical, I don't think so. Definitely a cool toy though

thanks for the optimism lev!!

and i wouldnt buy one, just because i know they'd be wicked expensive and they still arent really like a pick up b/c they have a short wheelbase, it would be like smaller than a ranger, so basicly just a toy, no real hauling capabilities

I think it's funny I have read many places about how many people say they should make a truck it would be awesome!! Then nobody honestly really wants one, not much point to make one if no one is gonna buy it!!

My truck would be:

J20 3/4-Ton
392 EFI Hemi
5-speed auto
D60's front and rear w/ OX Lockers
4-wheel disc breaks
STaK transfer case
38" XTreme Mud Terrains
and all kinds of other goodies

That would be just for hauling the TJ

To clarify there are three trucks... The Brute conversion from AEV, The Gladiator Concept which has been shot down(was the vehicle that looks almost exactlty like a JK but extended cab and side mounted spare), and the New JT concept which is built right on the new unlimited wheelbase.

I would like to have one as a novelty but if I needed a usable truck, I would buy a new GMC. I am a GM man when it comes to trucks.

Although having an old Kaiser built army truck would be cool... I think they were badged M715 maybe??

An unsourced article over at CarJunky.com has all sorts of facts about the long-rumored Jeep Gladiator pickup going into production and being available in early 2008. The article is long on "facts" and short on sources, so we're not really sure what to make of it. On one hand, it could be a major scoop, but on the other hand, it could be the late-night ramblings of a crazy guy with a keyboard. Regardless, here's a snippet:

The chassis for the Gladiator uses a stretched Dodge Dakota to get the extended wheelbase but the overall visual impact of the automobile remains in proportion. The truck has that angular militaristic luck, no curves and blunt lines but then if you are in the market for beauty you wouldn't be looking at a pickup.

When this becomes available in early 2008 it is going to make an excellent addition to the Jeep range and carries the idea of the Jeep Truck far better than anything else in the Jeep range which seem to be aimed at the suburbanites doing the school run rather than something that will be going off road and getting dirty. The Gladiator looks exactly as you would expect a Jeep to look and in this regard it gets top grade.

Make what you will of this story, but we'd sure like some confirmation before we put our money down.

If I had the money and Jeep actually makes it, I'd get one in a heartbeat.

I'd want it as a Rubicon, diesel, 6 speed manual, soft top and half doors as the top and doors will rarely be on so the less storage space they take, the better.

The interior would be stripped to add rhino lining and the essentials would go back in. No carpet or anything like that. The seats would have a wetsuit like cover on them because they WILL get wet. The bed, the body work below the doors and the rims would also get a rhino lining treatment.

A Cobra Classic Nightwatch w/weather would be must as would a 5 foot Firestik II Tunable Tip. And of course, a lot more stuff.
