maybe it's just my area, Hardly anyone does the wave. Oh well, I just keep on waving, if it gets returned, I'll consider it a plus.

The people that don't wave most likely call their Jeep cars. Some people own Jeeps and still don't get it. There is a guy here with a stock TJ with the "It's a Jeep Thing...you wouldn't understand" sticker on the windshield and on the spare tire...doesn't wave...he don't get it.

Ya might have yuppies....If you see few year old TJ that doesn't have the tire sidewalls scraped, the paint isn't scratched, and it's been washed!

Hey, I resemble that remark. I wash mine sometimes, and the paint is pretty decent after I get done. Mostly trying to keep the top from looking like a dirty sock though.

another comment on the Jeep wave

It's that "Jeep Thing"..

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You know what makes me sick? Been driving around all summer in the beater - with the top in the garage- and seen lots of other jeeps on the road. Did somebody forget to tell these little suburban yuppie larva that yer supposed to wave at fellow jeepers? I'll stick the whole left arm out of where the door oughta be, and they give me this "who the hell are you" look. Maybe it's because they've got a cell phone slapped up against their head. Or maybe they're sippin one of them cappucino latte thingies. Like that matters! Maybe I oughta start waving with slabs of bologna or maybe even paintballs.
Wake up America! That's the "Jeep Thing".

I saw this posted by another Jeeper and it echoed my thoughts these past few days.....I saw 3 Jeepers on my drive to school tonight, gave 'em a friendly wave & all I got was a look (not a good one either ) I liked the bologna idea

On a good note: I passed a fellow from our club the last week -hanging half way out the window waving....I laughed all the way home feeling great

me and my brother were driving with the doors off and we passed some folks... we both stuck our door side legs out and shook them... does that count?

Not a lot of people wave back at me because they are mistaking me for this other guy who drives a yellow Jeep in my town who is on trial for murdering his dad and maiming his mom.

Well, most Jeepers will wave if they see you... The ones that see and don't wave aren't really Jeepers, they just own a cute little convertible truck...

i agree i live around nc state un. and it has a pretty big rep for being a redneck school so most of the students drive trucks or jeeps. but even around here i will give the wave around 3 times a day and i am usually lucky if one gives it back.

When I got back into the Jeep Thing I was and am and always will be a waver. Here in Oregon I get lots of waves from jeepers you know are into it (dirty, mudders, dings and scratches). I get bupkis from the jeep drivers who you can tell their daddy bought it from them and it will never see dirt.

the wave is the first thing we noticed when we got our jeep. we sold our motorcycle earlier this year so having the jeep wave is a great replacement to the bike "wave".

The only thing I cant stand are when people in faded hazy plastic windows drive by....you cant see them inside to know if they waved or not LOL

those are the true jeepers. you don't own a CJ...or even a YJ if you don't want to be a part of the jeep community. they are the essence of what jeep is. while i love my tj and wouldn't trade it, i think it is the model most likely to have someone drive it who just wants a "convertible truck or suv" and not to be a part of the community because it has been refined for the masses.

It's funny yall are saying the CJ drivers always wave. I've always had the opinion that they seem to wave the least, even behind TJ drivers.I always thought that they were too good to wave at my YJ.

I can't recall ever missing a wave from a YJ or a TJ that had the slightest mods done to it.

One reason for the skimpy CJ waves though may be because I very rarely see one. This aint Colorado where you see them constantly. Not too many around in Mississippi. Seeing a CJ is about like seeing a Ferrari(sp?).

i get waves from the YJ's probably about as much as the CJ's...to be honest i probably get the least waves from TJ's...unless they have some mod's like lift and big tires (real jeepers)...then they wave at me...but the stock tj's never wave at me...its kinda cool though that the guys with 35's wave at me even though im sittin on 28's (until i go in this afternoon for my new tires)

The wave is alive and well around here.
I drive past a pretty big Jeep dealership on my way to/from work, and every once in awhile I catch somebody on a test drive. I make sure to give them a big wave. I usually see the confused look on their face, but sometimes the salespeople wave. I imagine they have to explain it to the driver. I figure I'm doing my part by teaching them before they even buy the Jeep.

As bigjeep said... CJ's and YJ's wave regularly.....It's the folks driving their shiny new TJ's that don't get it.

I got snubbed by a YJ today. Only passed three Jeeps on the road all day. Got a wave from a stock TJ, got ignored by a lifted YJ with lots of chrome (yuck), and got snubbed by a TJ (driver on cell phone).
