All of the jeepers that live near me wave regularly. Every now and then, some snot nosed, daddy's money, cell phone talking, yuppie won't wave but then again why should they. It's just a car right?

Down here most people wave. I do think that the salesmen should have to tell every new Jeep owner about the wave. they should have to sign a contract saying they will wave or thier Jeep will be repo'd and given to somebody that understands.

I had a rather nice looking young woman in a Dodge Dakota wave at me this morning... maybe it was just my good looks and being cool in a wrangler!

The wave is still pretty prevalent down here, but Lately there has been a steady decrease in the waves I get. Mostly from what looks like rich kids that Dont realize the comradery in the Jeep community. I saw the decline of the Harley Wave also a few years back. The decline was due to alot of people buying Harleys as a status symbol and not as a way of life. It is very possible the same is happening with the jeep wave.

the jeep wave has dropped a little down here, but the motorcycle wave seems to still be strong, we've taken 2 trips over the past few weekends, and 99% of all the other bikers waved at us

Yeah, motorcyclists always wave down here. Jeeps around Newnan are iffy. I probably get a 60-70 return wave ratio around home. On our trip to Augusta last weekend it was alot higher with the top down.

I have just gotten into this whole "jeep thing" I remember when riding with my father in law eveybody driving a jeep would wave at him or he would wave at them and I was thinking to my self man this dude knows alot of people with jeeps. Now I have a YJ of my own and I get a little upset if I give the wave and the yuppies dont wave back.

Should we give the wave to the other jeepers(cherooke, libety, wagoneer)

I always wave assuming that 1) I see the other Jeep, and 2) Removing a hand from the steering wheel or shifter will not cause loss of control. (Like turning a corner and shifting at the same time.) In that case I try and make eye contact and nod. It's funny that my wife (who was unsure of the whole owning a Jeep thing) immediately took to waving. If the top is down, she will wave both hands over head at the other Jeep. I've even caught her waving at Jeeps while driving her Suzuki Verona! (Of course no one waves back then!) Most people here in Buffalo wave. My theory is that I'm waving at the Jeep. If the driver waves back, it's just an added bonus.

Here's a suburban Jeeper that always waves :-). I know I only get maybe 1 out of 5 back but someday all Jeepers will get it.
Cheers!

today i waved to 4 jeeps and only 2 waved back (all were tj's except maybe one was a YJ i can't remember) and the two that did wave were both lifted with big tires...the other stock ones wouldn't wave...it seems the one that are lifted with the big tires are the real jeepers...they always wave but the stock ones never do

not where I am.....some stockers wave, some don't.....usually get a wave from a Jeep with mods.

I'm feeling better & not taking it personally, when my big friendly Jeep Wave isn't returned.....years of therapy is paying off

Well, I got no waves returned today. I was snubbed by a slightly modded YJ, then snubbed by two stock TJs, then I waved to a jeep being pulled behind a Winnebago type thing, then I was snubbed by a slightly lifted TJ.

We don't have many lifted vehicles around here. First off, it's illegal to go more than 4 inches and we don't really do it that way down here anyway. No such thing as a big rock anywhere around here.

It's In the Manual

Like all of you, there's little that irritates me more than not receiving a return wave and then being stared at as though you're the problem because you initiated the wave! The real problem is that the information about the Jeep wave is in every TJ manual on page 217. It shows that no one reads the manual! It also reveals how many Jeep sales personnel aren't real Jeepers. The sales people at the dealership with which I have purchased my Jeeps made certain to tell me about it before I left for my first ever test drive! And, by the way, I'm only kidding about it being in the manual but I wish it was!

Jeep Wave

I have been waving to other wrangler owners all summer without getting a single wave back, after 2 years of always getting waved to. Did I not get the memo?
