Just did a 1700 mile trip in my jeep...

I just drove from Colorado to NY in my Jeep! What a ride..haha! Driving 65mph down the freeway in a lifted jeep and getting hit with a gust of nebraska plains wind is a scary thing!! Suprisingly though, the ride was comfortable, and not as loud as I expected with the soft top. Gas mileage was pretty bad though. I averaged about 15-17mpg on the highway. I guess 33s and stock gears arent the best for mileage. Oh well. All in all, it was a blast and I think a Jeep, lifted or not is perfect for cross country!!

Couldn't agree more. I flew out to California and drove a lifted rig home. Mileage was 1543. I even stopped to wheel along the way. I think your 15-17mpg looks great! Post pics!

Ohh man now you got me jealous hahaha. I've been thinking of taking a road trip in mine down to jersey shore and six flags and you just made me confirm it. I will have to get a soft top though so i can keep the top off during drive. maybe even some soft doors to bring along easier to take off and bring into the room when im down there

My 97 TJ actually has some of the most comfortable seats around. The longest trip for me so far is only about 200 miles on mostly 2 lane smooth roads that wind though the hills of Arkansas.Great ride-love the coil spring suspension. My bothers CJ7 was not a smooth.

Funny thing about a long trip in your jeep. You see EVERY little two track road and get an overwhelming to drive'em all...........
Just getting to work is an adventure.

i got my jeep in Pagosa Springs, Colorado and i drove it back to Houston, Texas. it was about a 19-20 hour drive bc of stops here and there. i averaged about 18-19MPG. its a 1994 4.0L with a 5 speed, 2in body lift and 32in tires. all in all it wasnt a bad drives. when the wind pick up it scared me sometimes bc it would get hard to contorl. but besides that i got used to the noise and just turned the radio up real loud haha

I head out to Chicago next week Friday. Mom turns 80. On the way out I’ll do the interstate thing. On the way home I always try to do the 2 lane thing and never take the same route twice. Love road trips and this will be the second in my JK.

Yeah, I saw alot of little backroads and areas with mud through some states that I had a very strong desire to go play in. But I had to make it back up here for Army stuff, so I didnt get to.
