just got my new jeep

well got me new black jeep wrangler forgot how much i missed the one i had as a teenager till i test drove one, and well... after that it was to late, the jeep bug got me lol.

i do need some advice though, been trying to take it easy like the manual says for the first 500 miles. Tried to stay under 50mph for the first 60 miles though i didn't on the way home from the dealer because i didn't know about that part till i got home and read the manual. But i'm pretty sure i only got up to 55mph since thats the top speed limit from my house to the dealer, but it was about 30 mile drive so that was half of the 60 miles

Now i live about 25 miles from work and half of it is 65mph and the rest is 55mph though for the 500 miles i have been driving to and from work varying the speed every the best i can especially if nobody is behind me.

My first question is when can i go over 55mph after the 500 miles?
and my 2nd question is, though i have never done any offroading in my life except driving in snow to and from work etc.. i have a weird itch to do some LOL I read somewhere to wait about 1000 to 1500 miles before offroading since theirs less traction and harder on everything while its breaking in? so i dunno how correct that is and was curious of when i can take my first journey off the main highway?

Now let me explain what kind of offroading i want to do. Been trying to do my homework and watching youtube video's and the closest place i found to where i live is Turkey Bay since the place in dyersburg is closed from what i have found. But i don't wanna do the things that 95% of the vids i have watched like tackling big ruts, hills, 2 feet deep mudholes, and rocks as big as my jeep But what i wanna do is just have a nice day just poking along on some nice easy newbie trails that i can do by myself ( i know the advance stuff u need somebody in another vehicle to help spot or pull u out etc). The best i can tell the main trail at Turkey Bay would prob offer this? But i need some advice since i don't really know lol Don't really wanna join an offroad club or anything like that unless i do one day wanna start trying more advanced offroading. If anybody has a better place than Turkey Bay around dyersburg let me know.

But those are my main questions. When can i go over 55mph, when can i do newbie offroading, and also can i do the offroading i want with the stock tires?

Welcome to the Forum

My Jeep didn't make it home from the dealership before it hit it's first dirt trail and I wouldn't worry too much about the 55 mph limit. Just don't open it up and maintain 70ish for long periods of time.

As for trails, PM Ageless Stranger or Barrie for info on TB. They practically live there and can tell you all about it.

Don't go offroading alone even with experience. There is a group of WF members who get together and run TB frequently.

thanks! dunno bout mods yet lol I also had a jeep when i was a teen, and it has taken me 10 years to be able to afford one again lol But glad to be back in one, and pretty much just love the stock look (love all the looks but to much maintance in long run with lift kits and such). Was thinkin of a winch for the front till i learned it will sag the front and i don't wanna go putting spacers and crap in, so prob just be come along for now. SHould be plenty since i won't be mud boggin or anything, just basic trail riding and need something in case i need to be pulled back or forward a couple feet. And will prob rock these tires since i don't really have to extra cash to just not use a good set of tires. But when i do get more tires from what i've read mpg wise (drive 60 miles a day for work) i will get same size but different kind of treads that would be more suitable for offroad than the stocks. But right now i'm just happy to be in a jeep and want to go to turkey bay and cat around the easy trails and enjoy a day away from the house and work.
