KC rock guards a disadvantage to lighting?

I just purchased a set of KC Apollo 55w fogs for the front bumper. The lights came with the KC plastic rock guards installed. Upon closer inspection, the guards also hold the bulb in place, so they can't be removed. I suppose I'll find out soon enough, but are any of you running these rock guards? I
am concerned that they will kill a large amount of the light and be a disadvantage instead of an asset?

No issues with lack of light. I had to order the rock guards seperately for my 5" apollos. There was a plain ring that held the lens in that was swapped for thr rock guard. I'm not sure if the plain rings are available so you can swap the other way.
Determination: the feeling you get right before you do something incredibly stupid.
