Kelley Blue Books Ranks 2011 Jeep Wrangler Second in Resale Value

Chrysler Blog - Kelley Blue Books Ranks 2011 Jeep Wrangler Second in Resale Value

November 17, 2010 7:10 AM

That 2011 Jeep Wrangler you purchase is projected to maintain 45.2 percent of its original purchase price in five years, according to Kelley Blue Book's

In its Best Resale Value Awards for the 2011 model-year, the 2011 Jeep Wrangler ranked among the top 10 models for best resale value coming in at #2 (to Honda's CR-V).

The Jeep Wrangler appears on our list year after year as a result of strong auction values that these vehicles bring when sold. It's a solid performer that benefits from good demand, said Eric Ibara, director of residual consulting, Kelley Blue Book.

The estimated resale value for the 2011 Jeep Wrangler, which is in the Compact Utility Vehicle category, is an improvement over last year, when Kelley Blue Book estimated that the 2010 Jeep Wrangler would maintain 41.8 percent of its purchase price after five years.

According to the editors of Kelley Blue Books, One of the most iconic, uniquely American shapes in the automotive world belongs to the Jeep Wrangler. Whether driving top-down through suburbia or putting its legendary off-road abilities to use on the Rubicon trail, the Jeep Wrangler is the quintessential vehicle for freedom-loving explorers.

The Kelley Blue Book Best Resale Value Awards recognize current and forthcoming vehicles for their projected retained value five years from now. Since depreciation (or loss of value) is typically a car-buyer's primary expense during ownership, these awards, like all of kbb.coms new- and used-vehicle information, are designed to help consumers make more informed car-buying decisions.

Hmmm, and Consumer report rates them as the worst SUV you can buy. Hello GS, they ain't a SUV and you don't know what you are talking about. Around this part of the world they hold their resale better than any other vehicle except, maybe, Lexus. That's any old Wrangler, just not the 1911.

That means you could drive a bare bones wrangler for 5 years and it would only cost you $10,000 after resale? That's a pretty sweet deal!
