Learning to offroad

Hey, while I am waiting for my JK might as well ask where you all learned your off-roading skills, rock crawling, etc.

I learned by doing with members of my club, they are all a good bunch of people that help in any way needed. They give pointers/advise when I'm about to do something I have not done before and they do it in a very positive way, not heavy handed like some people can be.

I also have an "advantage", I have been riding dirt bikes for 45 years so I seem to make good line choices, hey it's all good.

Do a Google search for 4 wheel drive clubs in your area and go to a meeting, it very well could be the best thing you do!

BTW put your city and state in your profile, it does help.

So what are you getting? We all want to know.

I learned to drive a manual on my Dad's '79 CJ7. It wasn't long before I was his designated driver on every hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, or 4 wheeling trek we took.

Best place to learn is on the easy trails with a club that has members to show you how.

YES!!! I am trying not to get super crazy about it, but I am.

I have upgraded headlamps on order.

The dealer told me it could be 10 weeks.

Self taught, trial and error along with some common sense

From my dad. Just little things he'd mention when we'd be headed to a hunting spot like go over rocks to not rip sidewalls etc. I still have a lot to learn though.

Started when I was so small that I had to stand up in the seat of the old Ford truck to see over the steering wheel while driving so my Pappy could throw the hay off to feed the cows!!! Been a couple days ago! Things were just a natural progression from there!
