less control in 4wd?

Just got my first jeep a few weeks ago. No chance to do anything offroad yet. But I have driven over some lawns and parking curbs haha. Anyway.. we just had a torrential downpour while I was driving. It was nuts. Roads flooded quickly. I got in the deepest water that noone else could or would drive in and hit the gas. No problem other than most of the time it was throwing a ton of water up and onto the windshield. I tried putting it in 4wd for the hell of it and then I started getting what I'd expect when doing something like this in a car.. the wheel would want to pull to the right when hitting deeper water. Back to 2wd.. smooth plowing along again. Does that seem strange that 2wd would be easier to control? (not that it was hard to control.. just that I noticed the water trying to turn the wheel a bit when in 4wd and not in 2wd) Either way, it was a blast racing around where others were creeping and trying to find higher ground.

4 wheel drive in our wranglers is meant only for snow , ice , dirt ,gravel. For the 4wd to work properly the wheels need to spin a bit. In the rain your getting to much traction which causes it to pull either way So basiclly 4wd should only be used in conditions such as offroading or snow and ice

also, you'll find out that water == bad. you can easily hydro lock. don't drive through deep water because you can. take the long route around it.

“Coming of age in a fascist police state will not be a barrel of fun for anybody, much less for people like me, who are not inclined to suffer Nazis gladly and feel only contempt for the cowardly flag-suckers who would gladly give up their outdated freedom to live for the mess of pottage they have been conned into believing will be freedom from fear.”
