Poll is attached, but feel free to explain what oil brand, type, how many times you change the engine oil and why it works for you and you jeep. This is not a competition its a survey.
There are bad oils. They are always these small no-name brands (not the small exotics). There are several with such low viscosity that they can instantly harm your engine. Best to stick with the big names and the exotics (redline, Motul, Motorex, Total, etc)
Mobil1 0-40 full syn, change every10,000 miles, Mobil 1 filter. If not that Mobil1 5-20 extended performance still change at 10,000 miles. I read everything I could find on oil when I had two Miata's. Started with Amsoil-it is not without it's own issues and is generally more expensive than M1 and obviously harder to get. Like I said you can read about this stuff for hours including lab tests and engineering studies but the bottom line is full syn M1 and change at 10k. You can go to 13k or so with no harm but things do start to degrade at 10k ever so slightly. My Mercedes typically went 12 to 13k between a change was called for from the on board computer. I lived in Phoenix! Admittedly, the Mercedes held nine plus quarts of oil. Stop wasting your money on too frequent oil changes. BTW 10W-30 full syn is a meaningless number as it relates to DINO oil. It is also a poor choice. Go with one of the two I mentioned at the start. It is made up so the consumer thinks he knows what he is buying.
Quaker State Defy, 10W-30. 3000-5000 miles or 3-5 months. (this is a syn. blend with about 900 ppm "zinc" according to what I read.)
QS is a SOPUS (Shell) product same as Pennzoil.
The only thing Pennzoil has in common with the old Pennzoil is the yellow bottle since 2002, when Shell bought the name and reformulated it. I think it is one of the best out there now. I see a lot of bagging on PZ from people who cheerfully use Shell motor oils like Rotella, but it's the same company now.
Besides, a lot of old engines sludged regardless of what oil was used, and since Pennzoil was the one of most used oil brands, I strongly suspect that even the old Pennzoil got unfairly blamed for that most of the time.
i use strictly amsoil.in my 2011 impala i run 0w-30 100% synthetic/in my 2008 wrangle with a 3.8 i use 5w-20 100% synthetic.i use amsoil ea filters.it is stated that the oil chnage is at 25,000 and to chnage the filter at 12,500
I think Amsoil is a good product. I used to sell it on the side for extra money until I didn't have time for that anymore. I would still sell it to a friend or use it myself.
