Level B Roads...

Is there a way to look find level b roads in your area without driving around aimlessly? I'm looking for a place to take the jeep, it's not necessarily wheeling, but I want to just take the road less traveled. I know there are level b roads in my area I just have no way of finding them without burning through a tank of gas driving around. Any input is much appreciated. thanks!

Go to the sheriffs dept and ask for a 911 map.Court house may have one as well.Might cost you some coin but that map will show you every road in your county.

Do a google search by county. They usually have a map with the dirt roads on them. Regretfully they are getting graveled over in Iowa. I know of only 1 nore in Jackson county north of Andrew Iowa.

County Platt maps will also help.

thanks for the suggestions.. I have tried looking on the DOT site but they only show actual roads. I found a map for them in story county but thats kindof a trip so I was hoping to find some stuff a little closer.. are most level b roads just gravel roads or are they a little less maintained? i don't really know because I have never been on one around here

DeLoren state maps have really great local routes down the logging road level. Usually available in paperback about 18x18" opens wide and has great topo lines too. About $15 in the book stores.

Go to google maps in your state/county-ZOOM as far as it'll go and google will show you satellite pics, from1000 ft, less tha 1 yr old-

Believe me they show more than the latest topo maps, which are usually up to 5/20 yrs old-

Thats how I do all my Sierra camping/fishing--google maps--the best

Good luck

Level B roads here are generally dirt, non maintained, enter at your own risk. My plat map doesn't show level b roads, they've left off some of the gravel ones as well.

Out here some dirt roads are rated class 1 to 5, 5 being more challenging
