Life span of a stock engine?

Say it's a v6 4.0. How many miles it can typically roll before a necessary repair or rebuilt?

I'm no expert on Jeep's but I don't believe Jeep ever produced a V6 4L. The V6's are something like 3.6 or 3.8 L.

I've seen some I6's 4.0 reach 400,000 before a rebuild. Proper maintenance will make an engine run good for many miles and many years

Youre gonna get alot of flack on the v6 I6 thing >< First off if its a 4.0L engine its gonna be an I6 (Inline 6 cylinder)

Now that thats all cleared up, in some states, the body will rot out before the engine goes bad. Proper maintenance is key. theres a few threads about how many miles on your 4.0L engine, and there are loads over 200k.

Random Guy: "Is there anywhere that thing cant go?"
Me: "Yea, past a gas station..."
