Little help?

Hey all. New to the forum and just trying to educate myself a little here. Never had a dad to show me much mechanically and now into adulthood I'm tired of being ripped off. Seems to be a lot of good help here so maybe I could get some. I just bought a 2000 jk. I found out after purchase about leaks at both diff's and pretty sure it's at the pinion seals. The jeep has a 4" lift and I know that it has Dana( not sure which). Also discovered a couple spots on frame near back tires that are rusted through.( about the size of a quarter). Anyone be able to tell me the extent of difficulty and cost to repair these issues? Sorry if I sound stupid. Lol

If it's a 2000, it's a TJ. Posting some pics(use photobucket and copy the IMG code, then paste here) will give the experts around here a lot more info to go off of.

If it's a 4cyl, you'll definitely have a Dana 30/35 combo with 4.10 gears. If it's a 6 cyl, you could have either the 30/35 or 30/44 combo with either 3.07 or 3.73 gears. The 30/44 is the best one and will have the 3.73 gears.

If your Jeep is a 07-present, forget everything I typed

This is a great thread with a lot of good info

So you have the 30/35 combo with 4.10.

I can't help with the rust, I'm in Alabama :D
The diff seals, you can either buy rtv(cheap) or the lube lockers(I want to say around $20 per axle). The pinion seals are around $6 a piece. I've never done pinion seals, so I'm no help. The diff seals are easy....unbolt, drain fluid, clean old crap off, apply rtv, bolt back on, fill diff.
