lj or tj

hey guys, going to be getting a jeep soon, so i ask, do i get the lj or the tj? yes i would much rather have an lj but it will mean waiting up to 6 more months to get a jeep, and who wants to do that, what do you all think i should do? mostly dd with minor trail riding, either way it will be an auto with a straight 6 minimum. thanks and happy jeepin

I would think the lj would be well worth the wait. If I were to buy a tj, it would def be an unlimited.

Personally do not care for the profile of the LJ.
Also, on very tight trails, LJ's do have an occasional disadvantage in manuverability.
These areminor points at best.... and the LJ extra room is a big advantage.
If you like the LJ side view....I'd do it.

Hard to believe the 6 month wait is cirrect. Were you give a reason for this terrible service?

Lj all the way no doubt I love it as a dd and it performs extremely well on the road even with all the s#^t on it like lift and tires due to the wheel base I love it but that's just me.

Its all about what you like and if the LJ will benefit you. I like the TJ I really don't need the extra room of the LJ

I would wait the six months and get the LJ. Once you have it you will be glad you waited, much more practical than a TJ because you can actually go to IKEA with it.

Pro's and con's.Really depends on your needs and flavor.I like the look of shorty but certain color Lj's you gotta look twice at witch is what.(does that make sense)Or this is that?

I think LJs look stupid unless they're lifted. Once they're lifted, however, I LOVE them. My dream Jeep right now is an '06 Rubicon LJ.

I am biased. I have an 05 LJ and love it. one other consideration, the LJ is likely to hold more value to it over time. just due to limited prod run numbers. When I was looking, I was told it was THE JEEP to get.

Lj

LJs advantages out weight the very few TJs have over them I can maybe think of one thing a TJ has on a LJ maybe a tight tight trail maybe???LJs take lifts better (driveline angles)the extra room wheelbase is better wheelin resale.I could go on but why do you have to wait 6 months?I can't think of any reason you'd have to wait like that.

I don't have enough money for an lj at the moment, but within about 6 months I would have enough, I can afford so tjs right now though, I think I'm just going to wait on it, because I plan on going crazy with mods and making it exactly how I want so I guess start with the one I want. Thanks for all the help

I looked for more than 6 months for a low mile LJ manual Rubicon before giving up and getting a TJ. Love my Jeep but deeply regret not getting the LJ!! My gun case for the Lapua goes from the back over the console and makes it hard to shift, that extra couple feet would be very nice!!!

TJ.

the smaller wranglers are just more fun to drive. and, if you have a secondary vehicle (like say a grand cherokee), why buy a big wrangler?

Exactly. If you pull the trigger now, you just might regret it later. It's almost always better to get what you want.

The LJ would be nice with the extra space, but personally I'd rather have a TJ. Jeep's are meant to be short, and it suits ME just fine. However, it depends more on what you expect from a vehicle. When you fold the seat up on the TJ, there's enough room for most things you could need to put in there. But if you expect to be carrying 3 passengers and stuff in the back, it won't happen..

After spending 16 years packing an early CJ5 for camping and offroading, I bought an LJ in 2007. With a moderate 3" lift and 33s and plenty of cargo room, I couldn't be happier.

An LJ will go up steep stuff that will roll a TJ. Besides they are very rare and there are tons of TJ's. You won't regret waiting. I don't have one but I think they're tops.

You'll always wonder what it's like to have an LJ if you don't get one...

Personal opinion...at best!
Driving skill is much more important than wheelbase.

I waited for an LJ, I can't imagine owning a shorter body. As far as using it as a vehicle and not an off road toy, the extra space is really handy to have for transporting stuff and people at the same time.

Keep your eyes open for LJ's I've seen quite a few for sale recently. I drove to one dealership in the summer just to see someone drive off with a 2005 Rubi. I was lucky enough to find another LJ (2006 Unlimited) bought it the next day. You will most likely get a better deal this time of year! Just like what everyone else says It's worth the wait. I got mine a little dirty after my hangover went away the 2nd day I had it.

That's my buddies little princess in the back kids love mud!
