Locking gas caps

I was thinking about getting a gas cap because I like how they look but I was concerned about the fit. Does the metal actually rest against the body when installed? What about constant vibration and paint scratching?

Mine sits over top the factory setup. Unscrew and put it right over with the torx screws that came with my set up. My only issue was the cap was abit too large so i replaced that so that i could actually lock it without turning the the cap in the right spot to close the lid. Also, winter sucks for actually locking the lid so i leave mine unlocked just for winter. The brand was rugged ridge billet style locking gas lid/cover.

Okay, so the metal on the edge of the cover does not extend all the way to the paint?
