Longboard

I do a good bit of longboarding and have been struggling to find a good way to store my board in the jeep. I have seen some talk about buying a wakeboard rack and using that to hold the board but im not sold on that idea. Does anyone have any other ways of storing their board? I'm to the point that it doesn't matter if the rack will only work with the top off.

Thanks

I've just been tossing mine in the back.
Are you looking for something permanent? Something that will hold it up and out of the way?

Probably not permanent. Yes to hold it up out of the way. I throw mine in the back and it gets knocked around into stuff. Besides the wakeboard rack I can't seem to find a good way to do it at a price that is comparable to the price of the wakeboard rack.

With this being said, I'm really starting to consider the wakeboard rack idea. Just don't know of it'll fit.

Still open to different ideas though.

I use a gobi rack with the Thule hang 2 carrier. Pretty darn solid, I swear I could shake the whole jeep around with my board once its strapped down!

I ended up moving the front and rear mounts back a bit, having the Thule mounts on the windbar cause some wicked wind noise and some whistling at highway speeds.

Not very cost effective if all you are hauling are some surfboards, but we use it for gear quite a bit.

It's been a while but I have had some free time and have begun making my own rack. Thanks to eBay I found a set of cheap wakeboard racks. All I have to do is mount them to the roll bar and ill be set. Still need to figure out how to attach them.

good looking set-up, but I believe he is talking about a longboard skateboard.

I hate that I haven't been longboarding much since college, but where I live now is not longboard friendly..

absolutely nothing! I actually started long boarding at nmu in Marquette. but I live farther west now and it's a lot of dirt roads and closed minded people who wouldn't like "those punk ass kids on skateboards" too much. not worth the hassle, though I've found a couple backcountry hills that would be awesome to ride.

a full time job really puts a damper on it too..

I'm up in Cumming. I usually just cruise around parks while my kids are at their sports practices. I've never bombed hills, or anything crazy haha.

I LOVE those wakeboard racks, Tball.

You have a hardtop? ESP and some other brands make soft racks. Id recommend one of those or if you have a soft top, drop the soft top and use 2 ATV racket straps and 2 towels and strap it to the rollbars.
