I currently drive a 2012 Chrysler 200 S with the 3.6L and I love the way the Jeep looks.
I am 21 and live in texas and drive about 65 miles round trip a day to and from work. Looking to find out about what kind of real gas mileage yall are getting and also about your expeirience with the Jeep. I will be getting an Auto, Hardtop with the 3.21 gears or 3.73
I understand you dont buy a Jeep from gas but seeing as I am getting about 28 on the highway it just makes the question POP into my head.
So please share your stories and ideas and expierences and help this new soon to be JEEPER make up my mind.
A little more encouraging...but not "hopeful".
We have a '12 Sport with a softop, and 3.21s. It is BONE STOCK!!! we took out the seat to save weight....on the Interstate with the cruise set at 75mph we get MAYBE 22 at best. Sometimes as low as 20mpg on the highway. Around town we get from 17-20, depends on where and when we/ she is driving and how big of a hurry the wife is in (it is her DD). I can usually get in it and get the mileage to start going up on the indicator...but I drive like an old man most of the time.
If you lift it, take the top down, change the bumpers, or tires, or wheels, the gas mileage WILL USUALLY go down!!!
There is a thread about mileage on the "New '12s" from when they first came out....it is an old one but that might be more helpful....Welcome IN!!
I have a 4-door 2012 with 3.21 and get 21 MPG on true highway. I live in a rural area with 45-55 speed limits on the main road. With that driving, I get about 17. As I sat in Dallas traffic last week, you'll also bun a fair amount of fuel sitting/crawling through traffic.
4 door 2012 with 3.73s and a 6-speed. my average combined mpg over 15k miles is still 20mpg. lowest so far was about 17. highways here are 55 mph, once you crack 60, the mpgs start dropping like a rock.
my commute is 50 miles/day and i love it.
2012 Deep Cherry Red JKU Sport S - Tickastar, 6 speed, 3.73, Dual Tops
My wife drives a bone stock 2dr 2012, manual transmission, 3.73's. She gets 19-21 mpg depending on where she's driving. I drive a 4dr 2012, 4inch lift, 35" tires and get 13-15mpg, depending on how/where I'm driving.
Update just drove 200 some miles today cruise between 60 and 75mph...also some beach snow/ driving and 4wd was used....it was Snowing in South Haven MI not bad, but out and about outside of town, I felt more secure with 4wd and still got 20mpg on winter gas.
I went from a Mazda 3 to a 2013 Jk sport 2 door manual. I am getting about 17.1 mpg but it was totally worth it. I love my jeep and my drives to and from work. I knew when I went to get it that the gas mileage was not going to be great but that's not why you get a jeep if that is going to be a problem. Hope this helps and good luck.
What would driving through hill country be like y'all think ?
The more hills the more the engine is gonna work to get up them. Therefore mileage will be worse, to be honest if MPG concerns you, you gotta look at something different. This is the most anti aerodynamic vehicle made. Lol

It's not that I'm buying the jeep for gas mileage I'm buying a jeep for fun but looking at miles per gallon
FWIW ...... I understand what you are saying...especially if your Jeep will be your DD.......It would be like buying a house and not knowing or asking about the "Association dues" in your community or the taxes.....it is what you want but also need to know how much it is going to cost to use "regularly".
If your Jeep is just a "toy"...and only driven on weekends or when at the beach or when there is nine inches of snow...than mpg very well may not factor into the cost portion of your decision...
To me I never understood why people get so upset about someone asking about mileage when they are purchasing a Jeep and how bad the mileage can be when Mods are started....Good Luck!!!
Still haven't pulled the plug yet and am just trying to figure out what my mileage will end up being like since I live in hill country? Anybody out there in hill country throw some realistic numbers? Cant wait to take the top and doors off..
