Looking at new jeeps, need some direction

Hi there, I am new to the forums, and am looking for some direction. I really like the new jeeps and have been looking at the 2013's, mainly the wrangler unlimited sport s. now what I don't understand is that used 2011 and 12's are selling for just as much as one I priced out brand new?? How is that even possible?? Am i missing something? I like that the 13's has some upgrades such as the more powerful engine, and newer seats. The one I priced out for a sport s 4 door with soft top was 31,000 with automatic, and Bluetooth. I guess I'm just confused on why the prices are the same on earlier used models. Thanks so much

The wrangler has the best in class re-sale value. The used market for them is crazy. That's one of the huge benefits. The best part is if you know how to negotiate, you can get a brand new one much less than a used 11-12. the KBB value for my 2012 w/15k miles is more than what i paid for it brand new almost a year ago.

I recommend buying new. The interest rate will be lower and you'll get the full warranty. Sign up for tread lightly and get automatic 1% below invoice. Go to New Cars, Used Cars, Car Reviews and Pricing - Edmunds.com and price out your jeep to see the invoice pricing.

Make sure any 2013 you get off the lot has a build date that is newer than September 2012. Good luck!

thank you so much for your responses, why may i ask should i find out with a build date after sept 12? was there something wrong with the ones before that? Im coming from a 08 Shelby gt500 convertible, and have a baby on the way, so need something with a back seat . I have always loved Jeeps and its the only 4 door convertible on the market, which I really like. Im glad they keep their value over time.

The valve materials used in the cylinder heads were upgraded in mid-July '12. These changes hit production jeeps a month or so later. Cylinder heads in all 12's and the earliest 13s built during the summer are prone to loss of compression and a ticking noise on the driver's side cylinder bank. All heads are replaced under warranty (mine was), but it's still an unnecessary hassle. No reported issues with the new heads. There have only been 1 or 2 cases of 13s going in anyway. just a "heads" up.
