Question Looking to buy a Winch

Alright, Good brands? Electric? Hydraullic? which is more reliable? and what is a decent tow capacity? (weight). Looking to get a Winch so I can get it installed and hit the trails early spring.

Rule of thumb is twice the vehicles weight...so for a wrangler...8000lb winch or larger.

Electric or Hydraulic.....= Electric.

Good brands...= Warn , Tabor, Superwinch.

Yeah, exactly what distorted said... If you have the means, consider getting the synthetic rope instead of the cable, some come with this standard, and consider getting the roller fairlead. You'll also need to to acquire some hardware to use this appropriately. There are some good kits available that include tree savers, pulleys, shackles, chains, gloves, etc. You can also easily put together your own stuff. I would also recommend a recovery strap, hi-lift and a shovel to round out your recovery gear.

I swear by Warn winches and even if a manufacturer wanted to give me something else I don't know if I'd take it.
