As the title states, I am looking to buy my first Wrangler. I have driven wheelers and dirt bikes my whole life and have recently met a good group of guys/gals who Jeep. Needless to say, I've loved every second of this newfound sport! The trails are basic midwestern style trails with hills (20-30ft incline at 30-40 degrees I'd estimate), valleys, ruts (3ft deep X 3ft wide), fallen logs (1ft diameter), etc...I want to be able to drive this Jeep on daily occasions if necessary, but also run some trails/off-roading.
I am looking to get either a CJ or YJ (my budget is around 4k). I have done research and gathered basic opinions in regards to what to buy...just want to get some additional advice on here!
At this point, I am leaning towards a 92-95 YJ for the better roll cage after 91 and for the engine options (2.5L I4 MPI or 4.0L I6 MPI AMC 242 "Power Tech HO"). I want an AX-5/15 pending motor choice.
What should I look for when buying one? Something already with off-road mods? Stock? How much "lift" is good? I4 or I6? What aftermarket mods are best? I know a lot of these questions are of personal preference; rather I am looking for experienced opinions and friendly advicve!!
Thanks in advacne and any advice would be much appreciated!!!!
