Question Looking To Buy My First Wrangler

Hello everyone! Wondering if I could get some advice.

I've always wanted a Wrangler and a friend of mine has told me he'd sell his 2000 model for $4,500. Which I believe is one hell of a deal.

I don't know much about the vehicle. It's a 4.0L, 5 speed and according to him all that's wrong with it is a faulty oxygen sensor.

I think he needs to sell it hence the bargain and I trust him.

My question is what should I look out for or check that are known issues with this model?

Thanks for your time.

sorry if you saw that last post, i read the forum wrong. anyways, you should have it checked out by someone who knows what to look for before you buy it but it sounds like an amazing deal, as you said, you think the guy needs to get it off his hands, now is the time!

Thanks MacCleev - so just take it to my mechanic and get it checked out - nothing particular to ask him or make sure my mechanic looks for?

Thanks again.

Usually the mechanic will give you a list of all the things that "need to be fixed" and "recommended to be fixed". Then you can decide if it is still worth pursuing depending on your pocketbook and/or own mechanic skills.
